I remember going to some bass fishing seminars that Billy and Bobby put on at Mississippi State.  It was sometimes in the late 90, another instructor there was a guy named Dance.  ?

I believe Bobby was the only angler using a spinnerbait in Meads clear water and more amazing targeting shallow covers without any cover. My early memory of Bobby Murray was his tour out west to sportsmen shows with Ray Scott promoting B.A.S.S. and wearing Rebel lures hat and jumpsuit.

Hmmmm I don't know what to make of his statement. I've got a word but I won't say it.

Jimmy Houston, Hank Parker and Roland Martin are most likely the best.

Rick Clunn was a innovator of spinnerbait blade design and influenced spinnerbait performance. We think of Clunn's crankbaits, but spinnerbaits was his 1st winning lure.

KVD with his Strike King crankbaits was another spinnerbait specialist before crankbaits.

Blade vibration and spinnerbait wire arm design may have been forgotten in the todays lures because it's taken for standard design.

It is Hank Parker.

 

Try to find his DVDs on spinnerbait fishing on the Internet and any YouTube videos.

 

Hank is the master of spinnerbaits.

 

And his line of spinnerbaits is excellent. Expensive, but excellent.

 

 

 

 

Back in the early 70's, I received "The Big Book of Fishing" from Lindy/Little Joe. I still have remnants of that much used paper back book, in which Al Lindner designed and advocated the use of spinnerbaits for bass. Not sure of how many of the previously cited pros wrote about this great fishing lure back then, but I'm sure happy that Al did.

It's a great lure I fished it almost exclusively than I wanted to Branch out and try other lures to make me versatile of a fishermen,used it the other day and did some serious damage so needless to say gonna be using it allot more ?

Back when I used to build custom lures spinnerbaits were my speciality... well until Lonnie came along.

In my case Yes - most definitely.

And it's 95% Smallies for me too.

Took me a while to first, figure out why I wasn't getting hooks into these 'savage strikes' and

Second, why my 'Blades kept coming off'.  

Started 'upgrading the split rinds & swivels (Sort of a PIA) but I didn't loose anywhere near as many blades afterward.

Deal for me is once I feel the strike, just keep reeling until the rod rods. 

If they had hit the blade only, often times they come back and eat the hook & trailer.

Happens less with a swimbait trailer (we can all have an opinion as to why) and a good slathering on Megastrike adds incentive.

Seems like you'd end up missing quite a few if they ate the whole thing, similar to what A-Jay mentioned. Other than holding the blades, it's the upper arm that helps create the weedlessness by protecting the hook. Shouldn't matter whether it's a bass or a stump.

The difference is my spinnerbait not only has a short upper arm but a short lower arm placing the blade directly over the hook. The wire is also thinner allowing it to collapse much like a weed guard on a jig.

 

And yes I often have to reshape the wire after a couple fish.

I wish more companies made 1/4 oz with tandem nickel  blades and white shirts I seem to do really good with that combo and size

If I'm throwing a short arm spinnerbait it's at night & around wood. 

 

When I say "slow rolled", I mean it's on the bottom, reeled just fast enough to keep it upright.

 

I do not use a trailer or a stinger hook, I prefer a old school flat rubber skirts, & a #5 Colorado blade.

 

I purposely ricochet it off stumps, crawled up & over logs, & weaved through brush.

 

Yes some of those scratches & missing paint are due to this but the majority aint!
