10 day forecast shows another 10-15" of snow this week

Holy smokes! Not that bad for us. Another ice storm tomorrow night, hopefully not as bad because there are people around who still don’t have power, it’s been since Thursday.

I think that's our total for the year So far. By now we should have 40-50 inches.  My snow puppy is no more, he's been softened by my wife. These guys as you probably know are built for mountai

  • And of course, there's always this little issue.

Thank god the freezing rain is south of us because we still have a few people without power. We have gotten 6 inches of snow in the last 5 hours, the wind is blowing pretty good so nice drifts, and it’s now a snow sleet mix.

Of course there is no school today and there won’t be tomorrow and possibly Thursday because this isn’t supposed to stop until mid day tomorrow.

4th warning in a row for us - snow is piling up here pretty good.

The good thing - this always means the lakes will all be very FULL.

The bad - ice out might be later

The worst - even if the lakes somehow melt off before June, Access roads could ALL be snow covered until Jew-Lie !

At least you get to shovel your roof, I know you missed doing it in mid-November.

Not so much -

Fortunately we got a two-day flash melt between this and the last blow.

So at least 50 % of the raw tonnage went away without human intervention.

I'm good with that.

Be looking for another one soon but it's not looking good.

It’s probably hard for the southern boys to comprehend but I stepped outside this morning to get one of the dogs and thought “it’s not too cold out this morning. It wasn’t until I got in my truck did I see how cold it was. When there’s no wind at all these temps don’t feel bad at all....in moderation.

Minus 15 here this morning.

While I will admit to being fairly acclimated to the bitterness,

once the mercury dips below the -10 mark, my Iron Stones begin to freeze up a bit.

I would have lost my mind if I had to deal with the weather you have every day. I would have to move far south and tell the family if they wanted to see me in the winter they would have to come to me. Your dogs love snow so much what do they do for fun in the summer? Chase the mailman?

The pack loves to chase rabbits, dig huge holes and then eat and role in the dirt - that one makes me crazy.  Before or after the heat of the day and to keep them in sledding ready shape we do this.  They dig it as much as we do.

Woohoo! We have a break in the winter weather! Yesterday was sunny and 34 you southern boys don’t have a clue what sun does for your mood when it’s cloudy for 75% of the winter. Today sunny and upper 30’s, tomorrow rain and a high of 48. Then ? hits the fan, our high of 48 is going to come around 11 pm Saturday then the wind picks up and 2-3” by 11 am Sunday and sustained winds of 35-40 and gusts up to 60! Flash freeze before daylight Sunday and blowing snow with whiteout conditions.

You betcha I’m going to soak up as much sun as I can today.

Yikes! We are on several days straight of rain, flood watch on the top of the page every day. It’s a little easier to deal with than what y’all have, especially if it’s above 40.

Looks like we're really in for it now . . .

Well we woke up this am to see the updated forecast for the next 24 hours and I wish I had stayed in bed. We’re at our high 48 right now, rain, and a sw wind of 20. By noon 31, snow, and sustained winds of 40-45 and gusts up to 70. Not good!

Yea- raining up here too and has been off & on all night.

It's expected to mix with and then change to all snow as the air temps crash with the impending high winds (40-60 mph plus) which are a coming later this morning.

Looks like we'll be donning the Kahtoola MICROspikes  -

Life savers when it's like this.

Just wrapping up a blizzard here in Omaha - made for a fun couple of days but we at least did not lose power this time.

My company gives us Yak Traks every year, I have a pair very similar to the ones you posted. Those things work awesome and have saved my hind quarters more than once.
