The title says it all. What kind of long pants do you like to wear out on the boat during really hot days to protect your legs? Any good brands out there that do a good job of making the pants breathable, yet keep your legs protected? Thanks!

I have a couple pairs of UA pants, they're wicking and pretty lightweight. SPF 50+...look to be discontinued, but I'm sure they have similar ones out.

Well... I've always gone to thrift stores to find the lightest weight cotton pants I can find. $3 a pop.

Plain old Wrangler Cargo Pants in light tan.

During the summer, I wear nothing but the lightweight, quick dry, nylon pants. They are sold by many companies. NEVER anything cotton or denim. Once those get wet, they stay damp. The nylon pants get rid of sweat quickly. Even if you get a quick rain, or do a short wade, the pants will dry quickly. Very comfortable. Most have zip off legs that convert to shorts if you want.

They're like a walking tackle box. I can cram everything I need for a days fishing in those pockets. Too hot for summer here though. This time of year I'm wondering how cool that middle eastern desert garb is.

Magellan zip off pants are great. Lightweight and water resistant. Also don't break the bank.

An equally important question is what do you wear under those long pants for all-day comfort...

I don't know how people stand to wear long sleeves and pants.  In the winter, ice fishing I have less on than a lot of guys in the summer.  I have a few sun shirts from aftco and Columbia and I just roast in them.  And forget pants...I am one of those nuts wearing shorts when it is 5 below 0

My favorites have been Wrangler Rugged Wear Angler pants & Cabela's Trailhiker Pants

 

Pros:

Comfortable relaxed fit.

variety of sizes (waist & inseam long/short)

elastic fit waist

quick drying.

pockets/loops

 

The Cabela's have been replaced with Cabela's Trailhiker II Pants.    They're not bad, but the old design was a more relaxed fit.   The side pockets are now kinda stiff/snug.  :(

 

From what I see now on Cabelas or BPS websites you can only get these in store now.  :(

 

 

 

When it’s hot I fish early and late in the day or night. I don’t think I’ve ever worn long pants to go fishing here in the summer.

My legs are somewhat shaded by sitting in the jboat most of the time. I do try to wear sunscreen on arms and head areas.
