Who were some famous fisherman from your state? Your answer could be a famous tournament fisherman, tackle inventor, or TV host of a fishing show. My own state of Missouri has some good ones. Guido Hibdon, Harold Ensley, and Virgil Ward are three of several. Who are some famous fisherman from your state? Let's recognize these men for the contributions they've made to our sport.

Would have to be either Brent Chapman, or the most famous that people only know his first name, Ned Kehde.

Bass anglers who made a impact on our sport from California is a long list, 12 that come to mind;

Dee Thomas, flipping/ pitching

Aaron Martens, finesse pro angler

Skeet Reese, pro angler

Gary Klien, pro angler

Brent Ehrers, Pro angler

Ish Monroe, pro angler

Mike Folkestad, pro angler

Jay Yelas, pro angler

Butch Brown, trophy bbass angler

Don Iovino, pro finesse angler

Gary Dobyns, pro angler

For our province, and really for our entire country, probably the one best known guy that nearly everyone knows is Bob Izumi. He and his brother Wayne were a dominant team on any big tournament trail here in the 70s to 80s, I think mainly because they were so far ahead of anyone else as far as getting information on new tactics developed in the southern states. On top of tournaments, “ The Real Fishing Show with Bob Izumi ” has been one of the top outdoor shows in Canada for many years.

Bobby Meador & Al St. Romain qualified for the 1st Classic

Jack Hains won the 1975 Classic

Bo Dowden won the 1980 Classic

Greg Hackney no explanation needed

Robert Glynn Carver  Mister Twister Founder

H & H Lure Company, H&H spinnerbaits, can't remember who founded it.

Holmes Thurman Skeeter Bass Boats

I know John Crews is from Virginia, Missle Baits are made in Salem near where a buddy of mine works.  Jacob Powroznik is from somewhere around Richmond.  There's probably more, I just know of these 2 from going to the fishing expo in Richmond.

Roland Martin is originally from MD, though I don't think he ever considered it is home state fishing wise.

There have been a handful of pro anglers from MD, I think the best currently is Bryan Schmitt.  He switched from FLW to the Elites this season and should be a contender.

Speaking of modern fishermen the most famous is probably Michael Hsiao or 1rod1reel from Maryland.

That's very true, I didn't think of the YouTube guys...But he and YouTubeFishingVids are probably more well known in general than any tournament angler :).  There's a couple other popular YT guys from MD and Northern VA.

"Famous" means more than just tournaments, my mistake.

I don't know what he did outside of fishing, but I bet he would make one hell of a used car salesman.
