Normally I would say I know a plan but rabbit is not easily caught. And I’m sure if you catch ten, they will send 20 more. They are delicious but I’ve heard never to eat one in may June July or august

My papaw used to tell it to me all the time, I can’t exactly recall how it goes but I’ll try…….   3 moles are single file in a tunnel. The lead mole says he smells something, maybe honey. Th

And it's almost not even fair.

Ironically, I have one almost exactly like that, only it’s a Ruger. Used it regularly at my last house. Haven’t had a need to use it here yet, until now. Deadly force is authorized.

Our no-deadly-force problem is a big fat  doe and fawn that eat the tops off our pollinator garden as it grows. They love the buds. The mom just sat there and looked at us as we pulled up the driveway last night - I could almost touch her from the driver side window.

@TnRiver46 will Mole traps work on Voles or am I going to have to resort to weasels?

Voles are mouse sized and eat the roots off of bushes and flowers, mole traps would be way too large. Trapping voles would most likely be ineffective, I’ve only caught a few by accident in mouse traps in peoples garages . They are usually controlled by putting rodenticide down in the visual tunnels. They can’t dig a network of tunnels themselves, they will usually take over old mole runs or places where a tree and its roots rotted away.

I came outside this morning to the side of my house and found almost an entire hosta trimmed down.  Another one further down has also been munched on.  The guilty party are a couple of rabbits.  These things are savage!  There's gonna be nothing left of my wife's hostas in a week.  I need a new form of pest control.  The dog isn't doing her job.

War has been declared.

My war with the rabbits is intensifying.  I was able to pick one off with the Ruger, and my neighbor ran one over with his lawn mower.  Lol that was carnage.

I think they just sent in reinforcements though.  Damage to the hostas has been reduced but its still happening.  I am dog sitting my parent's dog for 5 days so hopefully 2 guards instead of my standard one bird dog can mitigate this problem, at least temporarily.  My parent's dog is an expert at finding and catching chipmunks.  Between these two, and my brain power, maybe we can solve the world's rabbit hosta-eating problems.

Don’t white tails also eat your hostas ?

Deer feed off of hard work, they've destroyed lots of beautiful plants and money of mine.     Hostas are like caviar to them lol.

I waged a two year war trying to find products, but eventually the work and expense of doing so was too much, and I've lost the war against them.

Liquid Fence which is commonly avail. at places like Lowes works really well, you just have to spray it weekly or every couple of weeks.

Is it safe to use around dogs?  I'll have to look into this.  I'm to the point of frustration with the bunnies.  I think @TnRiver46 was right.  Take out 2, and there are 10 more waiting.

Yeah I remember that pic !

there are certain things deer won’t mess with like marigold but I’ve never heard of much a rabbit won’t nibble on. I do have lots of customers that always say the rabbits are gone from their yard this year but I don’t think I really believe them, probably just active at night.

usually everyone says the rabbits are gone because there’s a fox or now we have tons of rabbits because the fox is gone but usually one comes with the other and nobody can watch their yard  24 hours a day

Yeah it's just putrefied egg product and a few spices like Thyme and Rosemary IIrc.

There is another great product called Plantskydd.....made from dried blood, completely safe as well, and works even better than Liquid Fence, however it's more expensive, and usually have to order it if you don't have lots of garden stores around.  Liquid / Pre-Mixed Archives - Plantskydd : Plantskydd

The Liquid Fence smells like death until it dries, so there is that ?

I am not a big fan of those weird dudes,

but they eat just about everything I don't want in my yard so they get a pass.

Still don't like them though.
