What topwaters do you prefer in rainy conditions? I'm not talking down pour but let's say a light to medium shower

I recall several days of spitting rain during which I caught a bunch with the ole' Chug Bug.  Mid-summer mornings, most likely.

 

I can imagine that the Whopper Plopper or a regular buzzbait also being good options.

I would throw baits that create more commotion than the rain hitting the water. Prop bats, wake baits. Personally I would throw the larger size  Deps Buzz Jet, whopper plopped 130 or a 5" Evergreen SB. All three of these lures create a lot of noise and commotion

Continuous moving baits - mostly a buzz bait or plopper style.

I have had good luck with a whopper plopper on rainy days.

Buzzbait has always been my choice as well just making sure I wasn't missing anything

I say buzzbait also. Nice fish there

Wind has a bigger impact on a top water bite then rain. Use whatever top water lure works for you.

I don’t really have a particular favorite. 
Depending on where I’m at, I’ll usually start with a Spook or Pop R and go from there. 
 

But I’ve also found that something with a little flash fished just below the surface will work just as well.

Wake baits like an Evergreen ND 180, Buzzbaits & Whopper Ploppers would be my consistent however just about any topwater could work when the timing is right. That said wind , water clarity & the water temperature need to be considered. I remember tearing them up at a lake last year during the post spawn with a weedless frog. Keep an open mind. 

Don't own an array of top water baits but the ones I own all work well. 

Often one works better on a given day.

I'd be more inclined to throw the Pop R in the rain but think in light misting rain, all could be productive.

if it is a steady downpour, go with something that puts out some noise or water displacement. The rain will put white noise into the water (my theory) so you will want a bait that was break through that rain noise to draw in bass. I like a popper or a whopper plopper

Yup, I like fishing a white spinnerbait with large willow leaf blades about 6" to a foot below the surface, it gets bit.

Buzzbait. I want something that’s not going blend in with the sound of the rain. 

In light to medium rain I've got to throw the Wake Bull Shad. Add wind and I'll throw the 130 Whopper Plopper.
