Anyone else sitting on hold for almost an hour waiting for an operator? 

 

Needed something to do while I waited and wanted to see if anyone else was just as bored as me waiting for these blems

 

25 days sale at 12 pm pst... more like SIT ON HOLD and make me shop more!

Hahah! I think I’m the only member of this website that has never used tackle warehouse . Sounds like their prices are great though!

Well now I am mad waited 43 mins on hold after 10 mins or so dialing... Then it seemed like someone picked up and then there was nothing there...  They then hung up... Good thing I had 2 phones going..

 

Got them... Not the colors I was SUPER excited for tho

Called TW yesterday at about 1:30 PST, took all of maybe 5 mins to get a rep on the line. Guess I got lucky.

I’ve never waited more than a few minutes for TW to pick up the phone.?

Usually they are great! A little different when a lot of people are calling in for the daily special (started at 12 PST and you had to call in to make the order) most colors sold out within 2hrs.

You and @roadwarrior are both wrong. I have never ordered from Tackle Warehouse either.

I had never ordered ANY fishing lure, line, or hooks from an online source until 2020. There was no need to with Dicks, Fleet Farm, Cabelas, and Scheels all within an hour of my house.

 

That changed this year. All of the retailers I normally shop at were wiped out so the only way to get what I needed was to order it online. That required the necessary evil of paying for shipping and waiting for items because of various delay.

 

I do think they have an incredible selection at fair prices. I would simply rather buy it in person if I was able to. I think that once this high demand and supply chain issue problem goes back to normal, I’ll be able to find what I need locally again.

You and I live close, and although I have all those too (Chaska FF not Brooklyn Park though), I've gotten most of my gear online. I've popped into the stores long enough to check things out, but then turn around and order it online as I can usually find better prices there.

Today was the Rico Blem sale and the only way you could order was by phone. Bad day to call. LOL

Except none of those 4 are 'local shops' - they're all fair-sized to big corps...ya, Scheels may be 'employee owned', but 27 locations in 13 states makes it a corp.

 

The local shops left this area years ago - next to last one closed down 10 years ago. The only one left caters to the walleye/northern crowd with maybe a handful of bass baits available.

 

Sorry, Tom - in the case of my area, that argument left the gate a while ago.

I think Fisher is right. While they may be “local” in terms of geography, they’re big companies. At least Dicks and Cabelas are. Fleet Farm is based in Brainerd, MN and Scheels in Fargo, ND so there is some element of locality involved with those two.

 

Fleet Farm has always had more than fair prices but they always had re-stocking issues. Given the choice, I can hopefully buy what I need to at these physical locations again instead of buying it online.

Did I give a time frame when the pro fishing shops closed their doors because bass anglers come in and touch and feel the merchandise then buy online. There was a good pro shop in Brainerd MN last timeI was there with bass, Walleye and Musky lures. 

You are not the+Lone Ranger doing this. My experience with bass anglers is they are bargain hunters...

Until the local shops closed - that's where I did my shopping.

 

They didn't close because of lack of customers. One was taxed out of business by the city. One had the building they were in purchased by a developer - turned into a multi-story condo...they couldn't find a new location they could afford. Last one was an Evinrude repair shop with a small bait/tackle shop out front...when the repair guy retired, they couldn't find a replacement and that's where the bulk of their profit came from. They had to close down...now there's a Nautique dealer in that spot.

 

Last one, as I said, is primarily walleye/muskie with the bulk of the remainder for crappie.

 

One new local shop did open - a custom rod shop with mainly accessories and little tackle. Cheapest rod they sell is a 5'3" crappie noodle...for $180...well out of my budget.

There's a smaller local tackle shop near me who I'd love to do business with. But when they charge $8 for a pack of Rage Craws, and I can get them for $5.50 online, sorry. I'm taking my business elsewhere. 

There’s so many local shops around me, I could sink a bass boat with tackle. I’ll gladly spend a little extra to keep them going (and I don’t have much extra to spend ). I don’t get the high end stuff but I get whatever I need from them 

I buy from several local shops as well as Johnny’s monopoly he’s got goin and I order from TW and the auction site. Local shops just can’t handle the selection you have available with online ordering.

Yeah, I have no problem paying a little extra. But when the mark-up is dramatic, I gotta pass.
