  • Add a new rod to my St Croix collection. Been a fan of St Croix for quite some time. I have four Avids, three LTBs, and one Extreme. Had them for years and use them all the time. Never had a problem w

  • It's two things I like, really.  And that isn't too hard to figure out, is it?  If you must delve into semantics in order to debate online, I'm game for the extra posts.  I prefer an up locking seat o

I feel like the 13 Muse M F is more sensitive then the older Avids without the ART and matches or is slightly more sensitive then the newer 1 I have.  I think the blanks are very similar, weight and action wise, with the SC having a little more power.  The full cork grip and the painted blank of the SC makes the Avid slightly heavier then the Muse.  The biggest difference IMO is that the Muse balances better with lighter reels.  IDK if the EVA transfers vibration better then cork or if the reel seat on the Muse, but I feelthere is enough of a difference that I use my Muse over the Avids for bottom contact.

Its good that its being made in the US, but that likely means its a 250-350$ price point.

I was always curious about the Muse, is it true to its ratings, or is the M say more of a MH?

So far 13 has been consistent and accurate with power and action when it comes to the 36t blank in the Omen Black and Muse.  The M Muse fishes just like a M Avid, the Avids action is a hair faster and may have slightly more power or at least feels that way, but fishes the same baits as the Muse similarly.  I feel that the Muse balances better and the slightly slower action gives me more casting distance.

I was told that the person who designed the St. Croix rods prior to 2020 has now moved on, and is working for Batson. That might have something to do with it.

I was told that person's name, but I've forgotten it.                  jj

Just noticed on St. Croix's website that most of the Avid series rods say sold out and the image of the rod on their site is a different color than the ones I have.  So are we going to see a new Avid rod or something different?  Even the label looks different.  Did they update this and I missed it?

I think the "sold out" feature is relatively new to st croix's website. Before, you would only see if a rod was out of stock when you tried putting it in your cart. I could be wrong though. I also noticed the same "sold out" icons last week when browsing their site. It seems like a lot of their rods are sold out. If you go look at the mojo bass and ltb you will see that a lot of models are sold out there too. Still, these rods could be replacing the avids in the long run. If they're the same price as the avids then maybe the avids will be eventually phased out. Hard to imagine they'd get rid of such an iconic series of rods though. Or, like others have said, this new series could slot in between the avids and LTB.

Also, in case anyone missed it, SC released a video explaining the "new" material this rod would be made of.

Alot of their rods say that. I wondered if it might be due to it being their "shipping season" to their retailers.

My theory is they are making new Patriot rods for Bass Pro.  Patriot is the first word that popped in my head when I saw the scrambled logo.  It looks like the old Patriot rods are no longer available and St Croix has a history of making exclusive rods for BPS/cabelas

I'm pretty sure they're just out of a bunch of stuff.  I used their warranty to get a Legend Glass and was told it won't be in stock until the end of March.

That's an interesting take. When I first saw the logo, it looked like "Victory" to me. But that first video they released is titled "Journey"... so I don't know.

"Don't stop...

believing...

hold on to that feeling..."

Which would be a great motto for a fishing rod named Journey.

I won’t be able to buy one if it has a stupid name printed on it.

Most rods have stupid names.  Mojo is pretty dumb.  Do you like rods with alpha numeric names?

My Legend Glass has someone else's name on it (bought from their bargain room), I don't ever even notice it.

I wish they'd redo the Rage lineup. Loved those rods, they just needed new guides and reel seats.

You certainly got me there, now that I think about it.

I still use my Rage rods on the kayak.  nothing wrong with the casting models, but yes the spinning rod reel seats are terrible.  the current SCIII Mojo Bass took the place of the Rage albeit with cork instead of neoprene handles

I've never been able to pull the trigger on a Mojo because of the purple color. i just cant do it lol

Derek Hudnall just revealed on Bassmaster Live that its called "Victory".

He said he hopes St. Croix does not get mad at him for just revealing that.

Haha, smooth one Derek.

I'm a huge SC fan.  I try to visit the factory at least once a year (can't afford to visit more ha ha).  I really hope they do not discontinue their Avid line.  IMO the Avid line is the "best bang for the buck" in SC's line plus they have such good name recognition.  To me it's hard to beat an Avid with a Stradic attached.

d**n, and here I was hoping they'd call it something catchy like "Negasonic Nuclear Tachion-Pulse Phaser Annihilation Super Aircraft Lazer."
