Florida bass fishing is poo at best.

Featured Replies

I have lived in Florida for 18 years and sad to say the bass fishing here is dog poo at best.

I have been out on the boat over 100 times in the last 3 years and maybe have 20 bass all around 1 pound.

Its either fished out or the fish and game management has screwed it up with lake grass poison.

Either way same end result every time.

Selling everything and taking up golf, lol

Do you mean one lake or Florida waters in general? I am a one-dimensional fisherman and just fair at that ,  and caught maybe 200 bass this year. ( It has been an off year)

Florida has some of the best bass fishing in the world.

"A poor fisherman blames the fish."

If you've really put 100 trips in with only 20 small bass in the last three years, then you need to step back and figure out the pattern they're on, not the pattern you want them to be on.

Incredible that someone could call bass fishing in Florida of all places "dead."

BASS FISHING. It ain't for everybody. Goodluck.

What many people don't understand is that bass fishing is more like hunting than fishing.   If you want to catch a mess of fish, there are easier fish to catch than bass.  A major part of the fun is the feeling of accomplishment you get when you outsmart a big fish.  Personally, I could care less about catching a two pound bass.  In sixty years of fishing for bass, I am sure I have caught thousands like that.  Florida contains the fish I am looking for.  My home lakes are better now than they were twenty years ago.  Bass fishing is not for everyone.  When it's in your blood, it's all you think about.

I live in Florida for a reason.........FISHING,period.

Look at methods some trophy bass hunters use and about the only difference between hunting and trophy fishing are tools and location. It is almost difficult to transition between everyday life and bass fishing because of the quiet and quaint world bass live in.... without fishermen

I was in Florida for 5 days and caught more than 20 from the banks of ponds and canals with the handful of baits I smuggled into my clothes bag without my wife knowing. The troll is strong in this post.

I fish almost everyday from the bank and weekends in the boat.  I seldom come back with fewer then 6 bass in an hour.  That's with both black bass, and many peacocks.  Probably at least, 10 over 7 pounds this past six months.   It might be just the waters you fish, or the techniques you use.  Use flukes, U vibes, trick worms, or stick baits in any watermelon color, and when the bite tough, SLOW DOWN.  Many bass picked up while the bait is sitting still.  In low water levels, 100 fish days are not unusual in the everglades.  I have fished all over the east coast from Maine to Florida, and Florida is by far the best.  I live here only for the fishing!!!!!!!

If you are a bank fisherman, Florida fishing is made for you.  Florida is literally covered with canals, rock pits, sinkholes and drainage ditches.  Most all of them contain bass.  In South Florida you can't walk more than a few blocks in any residential neighborhood without seeing water.  I grew up fishing those canals.  As a boy I caught bass from the outflow of a sewage treatment plant and it was one of my best spots.   My son lives in Weston on a canal.  He and my grandson have both caught eight pound bass in their back yard.  If you can't catch bass in Florida, you aren't trying.
