So everybody throws stuff like the zako, the menace grub, keitech style swim baits, speed craws, flukes,hog farmer spunk shad or rage bugs on the back of a bladed jig. Is there anything you like to put on the back of a bladed jig that really works for you that doesn't get mentioned much?

I am not quite sure what you meant by this so I’ll just say I like using the Rage Tail Menace made by Strike King.

 

I also use the Zman Razor Shad because I prefer it’s durability over the Yamamoto Zako.

A stick bait. Not something I do often at all but maybe I should. It’s kind of like using a fluke as a trailer; the jig is moving the trailer and the trailer is not overpowering the jig. It’s subtle. 

I would say a fluke is my preferred trailer over a paddle-tail 

 

The zoom fluke or Creme fluke work fine for me and are relatively cheap

Smaller beaver/creature baits have worked really well for me, especially this time of year.

The secret is out!  Eliminator is a good one... it is flat and doesn't interfere with action or hook up percentage - yet it really makes a statement in the water when you need it. 

 

Another trailer I use when the water is warm and you are retrieving at faster speeds is a Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed craw. 

 

When the water is cold and you want minimal movement but something tasty I go with the Powerbait version of the Grass Pig... its a bit stiffer plastic than the original version...  oink, oink ! 

 

2/3 of a 5" stick worm or a trick worm.

 

The Havoc Devil's Spear was one of the best bladed jig trailers made but it wasn't around long unfortunately. I use the Pit Boss a lot as well as a YUM Christie Craw. 

Strike king caffeine shad, killer on a bladed jig. Close second for me is the blade minnow

What I came here to post, that tail looks amazing in the water on the back of a chatterbait. Or throw it on a belly weighted EWG hook and buzz it across the top like a mouse.

 

Instead, I'll throw out the Mister Twister 5" SinSation.

Half of a Senko. It's much more subtle but still gives an overall baitfish profile.

Old school split-tail spinnerbait trailers are my go to, tons of action from the tails without interfering with the working action of the chatterbait itself.  As nobody seems to use them anymore it's like having the one thing the fish haven't seen.

I will add to this...

 

The flat body shape of the Eeliminator allows the chatterbait or bladed jig to go over cover well like logs etc and also to ride higher in the column if rigged flat. Rotate it and give it less drag in the water and it will run deeper with no effect on the tails action. 

 

Also this gives the 3/8 a bit more weight so it helps in my opinion to skip it under docks with a casting rod. The colors are also a plus as they work well with many different setups!

 

 

To be clear.  With or without the skirt?

 

inthink a 6” lizard will kill.  No skirt.

How do you hook that thing?  It looks completely flat in the other photo.
