recommend some deep diving cranks + colors to buy

Featured Replies

So the 803sb came back in stock on blowout and I grabbed one this time and now I want to fill a 3700 with 6xd-10xd size crankbaits.   Anyone have some deep diving crankbait recommendations + colors for my next TW order?

I find for deep cranking, water clarity dictates lure color, usually one is trying to imitate bait fish, so something light on the belly with a darkish top, and maybe a bright color accent works well, the more dirty the water, the larger the accent, until in really dirty water, it becomes the lure color, the second color is something crawfish like when bouncing it off the bottom, doing that. When cranking in clear water, getting close to the forage is how I do it.

 Fire tiger works pretty good 15 to 25 foot around here .

I don't fish cranks much deeper than 16ft.-18ft. My two best producing cranks are the Bomber BD7 & BD8 Deep Fat Free Shad and the Norman NXS Crankbait, or DD22. I like red craw colors and something with plenty of chartreuse. I'll almost always choose a crank that runs deeper than the depth I'm targeting.

That's a good place to start. The 6th Sense Cloud 9 series are great. Berkley Dredger and the Megabass Deep-X 300 are worth a look.

Duo Realis, 6 XD, DD22, 6th Sense Cloud 9 series, Azusa to start. Luhr Jensen if you can find any.

The 3 colors that have consistently work for me are;

Ghost, pearl white with silver glider side bars, yellow eyes.

Lavender shad, Norman DD 22 color.

Black-red crawdad, Norman DD-22 color.

They must call the black-red crawdad, Chili bowl now which is such a odd name

Strike King 6XD in Green Gizzard Shad and chart/blue are about the only deep cranks I need.

     I own them all, and continue to by more, but could easily get by with two.                                        6th Sense Cloud nine series.  Aggressive action, loud and great hooks.  Something with chartreuse, and some type of Shad.

Rapala DT. series.

For when they want a tighter less aggressive wiggle, and not as much noise.  Sam colors as Cloud Nine.
