If I fish this weekend, it will be very early in the morning( sunup) for an hour or two. I'll go home before the party crowd shows up.

  • Nope.  I don’t like crowds or idiots and there will be lots of both.

I'm going, hopefully all 3 days. Some other idiot isn't keeping this idiot off the water. Plus, I'll go b4 sun rise and be off before most shake last nights hangover

I'll be out there. Water is still cold enough I doubt there will be any rec boaters on the lakes. I think it's low 60s right now. Fishing traffic was surprisingly light last year, hopefully that remains the case.

I stayed off the water this weekend. There were too many rookies and pleasure boaters out on Oconee all weekend.

One of the bad things about Lake Oconee is that it's really narrow throughout, and even to get to some of the more quiet coves I have to traverse some heavily trafficked areas. That's not a lot of fun, even though my kayak is stable. Even with my big kayak and safety flag I still worry about people not seeing me when their avoiding all of the other boats and jet skis out there. I didn't feel like dealing with that this weekend.

It's going to be that way most of the summer - and hot outside. My game plan is to do a lot of night fishing from 2 or 3 am until I start work in the morning. The only problem with that is I'm not sure when I'm going to sleep!

Take micro naps while your lure is in flight and at red lights(the folks behind you will tell you it's green).

I got out.  My distant off road lake.  My truck is filthy from the dirt road. I got rain and thunder, some lightning.  My launch spot sucked.  She opens at 8:00 am.  And she was late.  Ironically she had a map on the wall. It showed another launch. I got into my truck and sought out the other location.  It’s so much cheaper and opens all the time.  Downside, it’s way further from ,y usual fishing spots.  If it wasn’t thundering I would have made the trek.

I do fish in weekends, BUT I either fish in privet(paying Lake) or like last couple days I fish some place far from civilization ?.

I went to a place that you can spot a car from 5 miles. Only me and few friends.

I wasn't really planning on going out but this morning I woke up at 6 and said screw it. Glad I did. Fished 2 hours caught 6 largemouth between 1.5 and 2.5lb. Weightless pearl fluke did most of the damage but I got one on a good ol chug bug. My buddy text me and said he was struggling after I left with only one sink but could see fish pinning gills against shore. I threw some wood chips in the smoker and headed back out. In 30 minutes of skipping a senko around I pulled a 3 out from under and a log and a 5 out of a piece of brush..both challenging with spinning gear. Excited to go back in the am.

Nope, working. 12hrs of double time and a half will pay for the new 200AH lithium deep cycle arriving tomorrow. Next up is an On The Fly jackplate!!! Working the 4th of July will cover that.

Pond fishing has been a dud. Kind of disappointing. So, I will be braving Memorial Day boaters. Shouldn’t be bad. Going to Randleman. Hope to be there when it opens at 6 and be off the water shortly after noon.

Yes, I'm staying local, fishing out of my kayak.

I went yesterday for around 4 hrs and skunked, did good there two weeks ago. There wasn't many people around when I got there but I passed at least 50 kayaks working my way out of the creek back to my truck. Needless to say, Im hanging out at the house today.
