have you caught a bass on all your rod combos?

I have the weirdest thing.  I am almost uncomfortable if I have a rod-combo that is skunked.  right now it is the punch rig in my arsenal.  I can't remember catching a bass with that thing!!  argh.  I tried like heck yesterday, to no success.

like all things, this too shall pass.  one day,I will drop my bait on a less intelligent bass.  haha..   it is my heaviest rod, so it might go with me into the ocean for some halibut.  I will  bring a different reel tho.

Leave all your other rods at home...   ?

I have catch bass on each single combo in first day I start to use. coz I just that use that combo all day and catch at least one before I go home.

Still waiting to catch a bass on my HF frog rig.

Not on my fly rod

I have one that I've only caught pike on so far, despite throwing mostly Texas Rigs.

I'll go fishing from shore today, see what happens. There's some decent rocky drop offs I could probably flutter a Senko down.

Yes ~

And the toughest ones were the A-Rig set ups.

That one took me at least a couple of seasons.

Got her done though and haven't looked back.

Incidentally, I've sold some sticks to a few BR members that

have taken a few respectable bass.

And it looks like there may be a few more available this fall.

Yes.  I don't have enough combos to have any be a one technique only, rod reel.  The bait monkey is unhappy with the situation, and is constantly complaining.  If he had his way, I would have rods, that never even get used. My A rig rod is borrowed from my salmon steelhead quiver.  All other bass fishing combos do double duty with bass techniques, as well as may get used for other species.

Keep in mind that not all fishing techniques work in all situations or at all times of the year.  Florida style fishing may not work well in a clear deep Northern Lake. Flipping and pitching work best in shallow water lakes with lots of cover and low visibility.   It wouldn't do me much good to throw a NED rig In Lake Eustis.  A giant bass would take my rod away from me and beat me with it. ?

My big swimbait rod that I got myself for Xmas has been a fail so far, and I have about 5 lures to go with it.

I have caught fish on all of the combos that I have bought for myself. I only buy a combo if I have a need for it.

I may have a few cheaper combos I bought for the wife or just to have when friends come fishing with us that I haven't caught fish on, but I don't really use them anyway.

I do believe so...I can't think of a skunk combo.

someone above brought up a great point.  I dont have a lot of combos.  6 to be exact, not including the punch set up.  the Punch rod is my only single-tasker.  I only use it to punch.  the other six rods do the rest.  it makes sense they have fish slime on them.  the odds are in their favor.

I might try that shallow spool LEWS on the punch rod.  haha..doomed.!!

Nope.  Haven't fished several rods/reels yet.  I'm in 7th Heaven if I catch a bass locally on any combo.

Absolutely. I can walk from my front door to a rock quarry full of small hungry largemouth and test any new combo haha

I'm extremely jealous!

The answer is everything I intended for bass fishing and had the chance to fish.

We're in a terrible drought this year, and can't get a kayak to most of the water where I want to fish this combo.  I'm pretty antsy - we'll see what we get in the fall.

But I've more than made up for it with all the fly rods I've taken to hill country river crossings since I could first drive to Pancranz crossing.

That what I told my wife, I only catch fish on new gears, the reason I keep buying new stuffs. She didn’t buy into it though lol.

I live in New Hampshire so less is more I have 4 setups that do me just fine. I do currently have a skunk on a crank/spinner rod and reel as they were only purchased 2 hours ago and haven’t been tested. 7’1 st croix bass x m/f paired with a slx Dc 6.4.

It’ll be a skunked combo when I do test it though if I’m being honest. ?

I've not caught a fish yet on my punching combo either only because it's still in the 'warehouse'( closet). I have caught fish on I think 11 other combos so far this season.

Yes. Funny thing..... I bought 4 new combos this year and caught bass on all four during the opening day of the season.

There’s usually 50-75 people swimming there, you just have to cast inbetween them all! Winter is nice and somewhat quiet
