More moisture coming next week.  Every drop or snow flake helps with the drought.

  • Man that looks so comfy too ~ Not Familiar with winter ? OK, so it's pretty intense. Sort of like mudslides, wild fires, earth quakes, sink holes, flash floods and even land sides.

Same here for last night and all day today. Our power went out about 9:30 last night, crazy winds here. Still off now. I had to snowblow a trail from the barn to the house just to drag the generator o

Oh boy more floods haha. I think I want the drought back. Oh well what can you do, that dark green area is a big thick jungle that will always flood

Haha, I actually thought of Tennessee when I looked at and then posted that image.  Right in the dark bullseye.

California, Nevada, and Utah need the moisture big time though.

Getting a couple of days of air temps well above freezing and perhaps even some rain.

That will make a bit of a mess but it's the inevitable re-freeze after the rain, that's a downer.

Whole place is like walking on the surface of the moon.

Either way, December seemed to sort of zip right by so I'm almost OK with that.

They will always need it, it’s a desert after all

I knew you were in the Coast Guard, but I didn’t know you were an astronaut. Man you wear many hats!

Looks like another potential storm on Mon-Tues here.  Depending on the track, it could be all snow, all rain, or a mix of both.  My guess is that it will be another one of those heart attack snow falls because the temperature is supposed to hover right around freezing.

Kinda getting old.  This is the third straight week of a major storm here.  And this one looks more like the wet heavy heart attack snow.

Given the NWS forecast - I'm with you...this is not going to be fun.

My backyard right now - coming down pretty good.

We’re having a ‘weather alert’ day here with rain and possible tornados. Feels like May/June outside. Crazy compared to what the northern states are getting now.

Edit: Just got another tornado watch so today may be interesting after all.

I got about 5 inches today. It wasn’t the super heavy wet slop, luckily. My snow blower plowed right through it. Another 3 inches coming tomorrow.

I got about 6-7" here.

Neighbor's snow-blower cut through it like nobody's business.

Thunder and lightning here in my part of Michigan as we speak. Odd!

It felt like I almost got struck by lightning twice today! I went to the dentist this morning but they didn’t leave any new metal in my head…….

Heard on the local news tonight that we’re already up to 45.5 inches of snow this winter (since Dec 1). Average snowfall for the Twin Cities in a winter (Dec - March) is 51 inches.

Been a crazy week and a half around here. From the 24th to about the 28th we got 4’ of snow, and crazy drifting and winds. The last few days have been above freezing, and since about 4:00 this afternoon it’s been raining, and pouring hard for the last couple hours. All that snow is down to about a foot deep or so now, and by morning could be way less left. There’s not a lot of real cold weather in the forecast for the next week or more at least, all the larger lakes are still wide open with no signs of freezing up much at all. I’m sure we’ll get a deep freeze yet, and the lakes will lock up, but it’s not going to be for a very long time, and fingers crossed I’ll have the boat out of hibernation fairly early next spring.

Interesting stats tonight from the weatherman.

Jan. 1-8 we received 5 minutes of available sunshine. Think about that for a minute 5 minutes in 7 days! Today we received 262 minutes of sunshine.

We’ve received 90% of our yearly snowfall in 9 snow events.

Interesting weather so far this winter.
