Just wondering what some of your favorite drop shot lures are.  I'm new to drop shotting and trying to learn all I can.  Thanks.

Nose Hooked:

Zoom Fluke Tail Goby (out of production, but I stocked up)

Z-Man Slim SwimZ

Z-Man TRD HogZ

 

T-Rigged:

Zoom 4" Lizard

Zoom Baby Brush Hog

Zoom Finesse Worm

 

These are not my favorite, but last season they were the fish’s favorite:

 

Berkley Gulp Leech (Early Spring)

Zoom Finesse Worm (Spring/Summer)

Zoom Tiny Fluke (Summer/Fall)

Gajo Spirit Shad, both sizes

4.5" to 6" Robo Worm 

Either a 3" BPS Stik-O, or a Zoom Finesse worm.

Big fan of the zman worms for their durability and buoyancy.

 

Maxscent flatworm and flat nose minnow. Pretty much all I use now on a drop shot and I’ve caught literally hundreds of nice smallmouth on em the last few years.

Lots of good ones mentioned already. I did really well on the NetBait Flat Sided Shad and NetBait Crush Worm last year. The smallies especially loves the Flat Sided Shad.

Here are a few of my favorites!
 

Nose Hooked - Hook: Owner Mosquito Light Size 1 - Baits:

 

• Big Joshy’s Goby - Color: Bass candy and electric oil
• 4.5” Roboworm - Color: Aaron’s Magic
• 3” & 4.2” Megabass Hazedong Shad - Color: Green Pumpkin Shad (if I could only have 1 drop shot bait for the rest of time it would be the 3” Hazedong)

 

T-Rigged - Hooks: Owner Cover shot in 1/0 up to 4/0 - Baits:

 

• 6” Fat Roboworm - Color: Aaron’s Magic and MMIII
• Zoom Ol Monster - Color: Green Pumpkin (in the late summer months through grass I catch big ones on this worm)
• Zman Long Shotz - Color: Goby Bryant and Twilight (hated these nose rigged but T-Rigged the hook helps them lay horizontally perfectly, they last like 20 fish)

4" reins bubbling shaker or 6" roboworm

What do you use for rod, reel & line?

3 basic soft plastic drop shot rigging.

1. Nose hooked.

2. Weedless Texas hooked.

3.Wacky hooked.

Weight is usually 1/8 to 1/4 oz but varies. The drop shot weight is designed to pinch the line end and pull off when snagged.

1. Nose hook use size 1 Owner Mosquito  or similar.

2. Weedless use size 1/0 or 2/0 Owner# 5133. 4”- 5” size 1/0, 6” size 2/0.

3. Wacky hook same as nose hook.

soft plastics I use are;

1. 4 1/2” Roboworm Sculpin and 6” straight tail.

2. 6” Roboworm straight fat.

3. 6” Roboworm straight tail and 4.8” Jackall flick Shake worm.

Keep It Simple and don’t over work it.

XZone Slammer/Finesse Slammer and ZMan Streakz. I don’t use them but I also recommend you get some 4” and 6” roboworms to rig weedless on a dropshot.

I don't drop shot anymore.  Last time I tried I fell asleep.

6" roboworm in morning dawn.  Far and away my most replenished and recommended bait.  Catch numbers and quality.

zman robo worms and color is important, take few colors with you some lake/day they bite different color.

20# FC leader is to stiff for finesse drop shot, change it 8#.
Spro FC finesse stealth 8# leader is $10 for 54 yards.

Make the leader length about 7’ long, use the Palomar knot with hook upright, weight about 8” below the hook.

Agree with 20# leader being way too heavy for a drop shot leader. You could also drop down the braid to 15# or even 10#. 

 

As far as how far down you put the weight, that's determined by how far off the bottom you want it. There is no set distance for that. 

4” Cash Custom Lures Diamond Back Worm is my favorite. Some great color combos to choose from.

ahhahah...last time i napped on the water it was a Ned-Nap.  

 

I have a lot of success with a drop shot, to the point that it's become a confidence technique. If I can't get results with anything else, I'm going to pickup the drop shot with either a 3" Hazedong shad or a MaxScent flatworm. That being said, I desperately need to find cheaper baits because $7 a pack is absurd. Anyone know any good, budget alternatives to these baits?
