So I was oiling all my reels and changing out some line today and I realized that the braided line on one of my casting reels has really lost the majority of its color. Other than that, it's in decent shape. I haven't used that reel much, it was my second reel with braid and my go to was my Tatula 150 (which  broke).

Given this reel is largely for frogging and has 65# braid and I will downsize to 50# on the reel that's taking the place of the Tatula 150, I will probably leave it, but this got me thinking what most people would do in this case.

When I see frays - Braid lasts me anywhere from 2- 5 years depends on the application. I flip it onto other reels and add a little backing to compensate for the little but I cut off from tying new leaders

Maybe I should have added that as an option, but I was thinking more along the lines that the line is in good shape as mine is. In recent years, I've ran straight fluorocarbon whenever I can so the braid  on my reel doesn't see use around rocks.

I think this will be year 6 on this braid, but keep in mind the past two or three it's only been used when I bring out two rods with braid, which isn't all that often.

When it gets too low on the reel for whatever reason.

I use to switch it out when it faded too much.  It still worked okay, but I would see the yellow faded, and it gave me a reason to change it.  However, it occurred to me that white is pretty easy to see so I started buying 832 in white.  Now I have no idea how long it will be before I switch it out.  I guess when retying baits and leaders depletes the spool.  I can imagine that being a long time.

I typically change it when it starts to show a lot of wear.  I then reverse it on another reel and use it until it gets worn out again.  I voted when it really fades as that tells me it is getting worn.   I do have some no fade braid to try this season.  Might have to change my criteria.

White turns to brown pretty fast

I dont flip the spool until it gets ropey.  With hard use, usually lasts roughly a year.

I buy 150 yards of 832 in the spring when i can buy them on sale for $11.89. I then take of 75 yds of old 832 and put on the new. I fill 2 pfleuger size 30 spinning reels this way.

On my backup reels i keep the old 832 on and remove the bad shredded line. If it gets to low on the spool i will then do the same as stated above.

I only use straight braid on moving baits so fading isn't an issue. Imo

Have never had a regiment that I follow on when to change it, stuff last for many years.

When it gets low on the spool - usually from cutting off frayed line or lots of lure changes.

IIRC I'm going into year 4 on the 40# on my frog reel.

I'll be sure to let you know the reason if I ever do change my braid.

If it fades, then it fades.  The fish don't care.  If it frays, then it frays.  It'll get cut off eventually as I retie lures.  If it gets low on the spool, I put some more mono backer on it.  I like old braid.  It's more supple than new braid.

To fish with saw 734 c and tatula 100 with crankbaits what lines would be good. sufix 832 20lb + 12lb sunline super natural jumpsuit? do you see it appropriate? I accept suggestions

I don't do cranks on braid - 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid is my crank rig line.

If you do go braid to leader - that 12# Sunline would work fine....but I'd have at least a 10' (3m) leader.
