Road To The Superbowl 2024

The kitties may lose tonight in KC but they are the betting favorites to win their division this season.  I have them pegged at 11-6 and winning the NFC North.

They actually have the 4th best odds (22-1) in the NFC to win the Super Bowl too behind the Eagles, 49ers, and Cowboys.

For the first time in my 40 years of life the Lions have the best record in the NFL! ?

  • This is all so stupid. The only reason anyone is hip drop tackling is because they get flagged for any other tackle. Can’t hit the head can’t hit the legs can’t drive to the ground can’t land on them,

So much talk about Lions being good this year.   I just cannot comprehend such a concept.  Every time I hear someone say they're going to win the NFC North....or win 10 games.....I gotta forcibly get my eyes out of the top of my head.  When was their last playoff win....the 50's?  I ain't saying it can't happen.....only that I cannot imagine it

@Choporoz

An even more unfathomable thought ?

Browns vs Lions SB ?

Gooddell wouldnt let that happen.

I think some of you are forgetting that they won 8 of their final 10 games last season and finished 9-8. That includes a season finale victory at Green Bay that kept the rival Packers out of the playoffs when they seemingly had nothing to play for, other than the satisfaction of ending Green Bay’s season. Winning 1 or 2 more games than last season is all it would take to get to 10 or 11 wins.

@gimruis

Yes I remember well, only loosing to Panthers and Bills and drubbing the Jags.

We'll see if that carries over to tonight.

Lions might win 8 games and still win that division.  And that would be worth shooting for because I don't see a wild card coming out of there.

Another team that 'pundits' seem to love, that I can't fathom, is the Dolphins.   I would not be surprised if Tua is retired by Thanksgiving and the Fins are fighting the Pats to stay out of last in the division.

A soft coconut doesn't survive well in the NFL but neither does a team without Tom Brady.......belichick exposed ?

Good start to the 2023 NFL season. Ballsy move by the Lions on that fake punt. And KC really looked lackluster without Kelce.

If KC had anyone who could catch a ball especially with an open field behind them….

Kadarius Toney dropped how many passes, including the one that led to the pick 6 for the Lions.  That guy needs to be benched.  They have more capable receivers who can catch a ball that hits them in the chest.

The Lions are going to do one of two things

1: lose to KC tonight then going on to make the playoffs and get knocked out the first or second game

or

2: Beat KC tonight and ? the bed the rest of the season.

I'll go ahead and add a third 3) option.

They beat KC and win the division.

Wonder how many people are drinking blue kool aid instead of coffee this morning?

Wow!

Did KC know they had a game scheduled last night?

Congratulation Lions fans!

Detroit laid down the gauntlet last night, serving notice that last year was merely a warm-up.  That run game in the 2nd half was impressive.

It's for real this season.

P.S. Seahawks still beat them last year, and they're even better this year.  Fasten your seatbelts folks!

The Lions led in rushing, passing and time of possession ?

You'd think by reading these comments the lions won by 25.......a win is a win but a 1 point win isn't anything to hang your hat on in my eyes.

Goodell has zero control over that and all he cares about is the league making money so he can get paid.  Having a Lions Browns SuperBowl would reactivate fan bases that have been dormant and bring other fans to the league. There is a reason the Browns only went what, 3 years after they moved to Baltimore to get a new team in place.  Browns fanbase is very solid and I would bet pretty much any football fan, once they got over their own team losing, would find one of those teams to pull for if they met up in the SuperBowl

I don’t know…

Something tells me a Detroit / Cleveland SB would be the worst thing the league would want.
Nationally known product advertisers would run away as they think nobody would be interested enough to pay 300k for a 30 sec commercial except those 2 markets.

I’m sure I’m wrong, but that was my first thought.

Seems like one team could be considered a Dynasty especially playing in 3 of the last 4 super bowls while winning two of them. While the other team has only 1 playoff appearance in the same time frame. Detroit fans have something to be excited about for once, let them have their time.

The SuperBowl, no matter who is in it, is the most watched TV event every single year with few exceptions.  Ratings also don't even factor in the streaming crowd for the most part either.  I saw a stat somewhere before that said something like 85 out of the top 100 most viewed events in history were NFL related.

I like seeing upsets for sure but this is ultimately nothing more than a first week win against a team who didn't have their best skill position player.  A win is a win and I do think the Lions will fare well this season.  Gotta keep improving and moving forward so since it was a Thursday game I guess they can celebrate till Saturday this week then its on to the next one lol

I used to have Superbowl parties. Once in a while, I may even have turned the TV on. As you may have guessed from that statement, I don't follow pro football at all. Come to think of it, the only pro sport I follow is fishing.  I guess my lack of interest in pro sports makes me un-American.

I didnt watch the game last night, I had no interest in it even as a packer fan since the 60"s i did not care if lions won. I am not expecting much out of the packers for the first half of the season untill Love can get it going with all the new moving parts and maybe he doesnt.

That is fine with me because we then will get to draft higher and packers also gets the Jets # 1 pick if Aron rodgers plays 65% of the season for the jets.

To top it off I am still in baseball mode hoping for the orioles to win the division and do something great in the playoffs so the packers are my mistress untill orioles finish their nice run.
