Hey guys. New to the forum here. I caught this bass yesterday in about 3 feet of water on the bank of one of the main lake creeks. It’s definitely my new PB, unfortunately I didn’t have a scale. Curious what y’all estimate the weight was. Do you think it was a spawning female? Water temp was about 64. Thanks for your response!

Welcome to the boards and congrats on the PB! Did you buy any chance get a length measurement on her? With that girth and temp there's a good chance she's not too far from spawning. My guestimate is around 6lbs.

She’s a nice one…… under 5, but over 4.

It really depends on who caught it. If we were fishing together and  you caught it eehhh….. if I caught it …NEW STATE RECORD.. hahaha.

That’s my guess. 

Size is tough to estimate from a photo.  Not knowing how long your arms are.  

 

Regardless, a very nice sized fish.

I think actually you might have an angled a little bit funny in that last picture and I'm going to change my answer to between 6 and 7.

 

It's honestly impossible to tell from pictures so you're going to have to get a scale for the next one!  😉

Fish have a protective layer of slime. It's not good to lay them across absorbent materials like your shorts.

My first guess was close to five pounds, but when you see how distended her jaw is, I'm thinking maybe five and a half pounds. 

Looks like she’s full…All of 5+

Hopefully you released her to finish up, at which point maybe 4 1/2

Between 4-1/2 and 6 pounds.  That's a healthy looking bass.

4-5 lbs would be my guess. Nice catch!

About a 5-5.5# from me as well.  The size of the mouth in the first picture looks about 3.5" across given the size of the chatterbait.  In the last picture the length is about 6x as long as the mouth width, which would estimate the fish around 20-21" long which doesn't look far off unless you're 6'8" or 4'8" tall.  A 20" largemouth around here with full summer weight is going to push high 4#.  That fish is maybe a little longer (figure 0.5# per half inch at that size with normal proportions) and looks 'full' so I'd give you a solid 5+, but without any measurements I'm going to say not 6.
