Anyone know of a good reel repair service for Daiwa Reels

Featured Replies

I sent a Daiwa Steez 2508 spinning reel back to the Daiwa Service Department in California a few weeks ago and they ceremoniously mailed it back with a disappointing stock letter.  The reel per Daiwa was discontinued "5-10+years ago".  The letter also stated, "The parts necessary to repair reels are no longer available".  These are expensive reels, disappointed that Daiwa responded that way. Makes me second-think any purchase of a high-priced reel going forward.

If anyone has a recommendation for a good reel service contact that could fix an otherwise mint Daiwa Steez spinning reel, please IM.

Drop DVT (ad below) a query, he does good work.

Delaware Valley Tackle .... they're a site sponsor.  Mike's a great guy and does excellent work.

Was going to suggest DVT as well.

The way Daiwa responded is a bit worrying. I was thinking of buying a few steez baitcasting reels and I don’t like the idea of them being unrepairable after 5-10 years. I keep my gear until it quits for good.

One more for DVT.

I've got a very fussy Daiwa JDM Certate with Mike at DVT as I type.

I can't opine yet on whether the reel is as good as new, but I can tell you that he stands behind his service.    That means a tremendous amount in my book.

@Delaware Valley Tackle - thanks for marking me as a 'solution', however, YOU are the solution, not us. Have a great week Mike!

THKustoms, Trey is great.  Look him up, he's on all the social media platforms. He's easy to get ahold of Instagram @THKUSTOMS via messenger.

Has anyone experienced the turnaround time for DVT's reel cleaning service?

Just DM him, he will tell you. Probably shorter now, longer in the winter when responsible people who care about quality reel service are sending him 12x reels at a time. He is truly phenomenal.

Turn around varies by season, work needed, parts availability etc. this summer has been extra busy. I offer a reservation service to minimize your wait time. With a reservation cleaning/lube can be turned around in 24-48 hrs. Contact me with your needs and I’ll work it out with you.

As for repairing older reels, when parts become obsolete they can sometimes be obtained thru distributors, private sale or salvage reels. It is a challenge though.

I’m willing to send my reels 3000 miles to have Mike service my reels.

I service my own reels but have bought parts from Kel's in Orlando, FL for Shimano and Diawa reels.
