Heat Dome.

You must be just a little further south than I am.  We're at least getting a break starting Friday and it stays around 80, assuming that front actually comes through.

We have guests coming starting Thrusday and the balance monday after so I'm going to get all of my outside prep done this afternoon.  Starting the day with 75 degrees and 95% humidity (like yesterday) is just miserable.

I'm up on the Essex/Morris county border

That's from Weather-***, I don't put a lot of credence in that, it seems to change every couple of hrs, just pretty sure it's going to be hot

Ah, yes, the start of concrete NJ. I work in parsippany and it is usually 10 degrees or more hotter than here at the house in the south west end of Morris county.

Ha!! The concrete jungle :hello:, I worked in Parsippany for almost 20 yrs till retiring 3 years ago.

The town I moved to was a small quiet town, now they can't build enough condo's/townhouses

@Darth-Baiter, yikes!!! I throw that mess in the woods, no bag required haha

hahha...i am thinking of dumping it at the local park garbage next time.  that was foul.

That reminds me of night fishing for Bluefish on a party boat many years ago, got home and fillet'ed em and put the racks in a black plastic bag. It was the middle of summer and I went to sleep.

Woke up in the afternoon, later was outside and saw that the bag was now like a giant balloon ready to burst.

So in my infinite wisdom I sliced open the bag with my knife, well the stench that came out of that would gag a maggot, something I still remember to this day 🤮

With extended cooler temps than normal it’s hard to acclimate to sudden high heat periods. Heat exhaustion or worse heat stroke sneaks up on you before you realize it, acclimate slowly and keep hydrated and cool off in shaded areas!

I will never forget the stench of a cow that died in the woods...and then exploded.

Well, those summer intense storms rolled in and we took another hit yesterday.  My roof looks like a logging camp again.  Tulip poplar decided to shed a widow maker.  Luckily it’s away from the house.  I’ll leave it down for a couple of days since the deer are feeding heavily on the leaves.

I had heard that Nebraska would be a blast furnace.

95 here for 2 days with dewpoints in the “tropical” range means a heat index near 110.

Yuck

Relief by Monday here though. Monday can’t get here quick enough even though I work lol

I used to visit a supplier in Parsippany. They were a casting/forging house that had been there forever…

Yeah it’s hot as balls here in Iowa.

Feels like 101 right now and it’s only noon.

No fishing for this guy.

Could go out at midnight or something but that takes more motivation than what I might have.

Heat index originated in 1979. Hmmmm.

It's Summer and it's hot. As usual.

95 here in Iowa. And blue bird sky’s. I’m from Florida so I’m used to it. But it sucks lol. Oddly enough we have steady 25 mph winds since yesterday and till Monday

It’s 90 here at the moment. Normal for this time of year.
I just mowed 2/3 of the back yard …😅, after doing some brush cleanup and installing normal spouts on my gas cans.
I can’t stay at it quite as long as in the old days in the heat.

We’ve had a cooler year than normal here in north Tejas. It’s been nice. Usually by now it’s over 100 every day and miserable . Our drought broke too.

I’ve never understood why someone in an air conditioned weather studio could tell me how hot it feels outside while I’m pushing a lawn mower 😂

just tell me what the mercury says, I know what it “feels like”

I fished some 63 degree water last night, felt good

Just a note to those who are experiencing higher than normal temps, it might be good idea to have your AC serviced.  Nothing like losing your AC in a record breaking heatwave.  Went to my daughters farm last night for her birthday and for one of her gifts, I bought her a commercial very large pedestal fan for her horse barn.  She has box fans above every stall but nothing for the center isle.  I cleaned up the downed tree in my side yard and will now not venture out unless absolutely necessary.😂
