My New Terminal Box

Featured Replies

I’ve been using a cheap, double sided box for my terminal box in my kayak, but of course it got some moisture in it and it cost me some money. I got a new Plano 3600 with the big, single latch and rigid dividers (to keep those small hooks and terminal pieces in place), and really like it. Tons of slots to customize to the sizes I wanted and nothing is running underneath the dividers.

Wow, very nice! I didn't know you could get one with the option for so many compartments. Of course, I don't compete, so I've been just dealing with various terminal tackle in the small bags they come in. Been looking for other options as I'm thinking about going with a backpack for a while instead of the shoulder bag I have been using.

Toss half of that in it's original bag and throw them in an old use zoom baggy.  Toss that bag with your plastic and they'd will never rust.  Sucks when 1 rust it contaminate the rest of them

This is my second year after switching to backpack from shoulder bag. Highly recommend. I got a cheap Ozark Trail backpack from Walmart. It does the job, but I recommend something a little higher quality of you can swing it.

That new box looks super slick, @Bluebasser86. My terminal box is about half that size. Occasionally the smaller hooks can worm their way (no pun intended) over top of the dividers. I just finished reorganizing it tonight, knowing full well it'll be a mess again within a week. 😆

These are Rustrictor boxes so they have the extra rust protection, plus I have some of the silica tabs to absorb extra moisture in the box also. I have a bag with a bunch of specialty hooks I carry in their original packaging in addition to this box already. A lot of what is in this box is rigging or something that I pour.

Just to let you know Kastking has a sale going on now on their Hyperseal Tackle Boxes come in a 3600,3700 and 3700 deep. Usecode GEKBA10 for addtional 10% off at checkout.

That’s funny. I do have a real small folding gamakatsu box I keep In my hip bag for walking the  bank. But I use old soft plastic bags to keep hard baits and spinner baits and such in lol.

I used to do something similar until a few years ago when I ran across small plastic boxes (they are for bar soap) in Walmart’s ‘travel’ section next to it’s personal care aisles.  They are about $1 each.  I place several similar baits in a box, and can carry 3-4 in my hip bag for wading/fishing from bank.  Very tidy.  Soft plastics still go in zip lock bags.

Yep I use Plano rustrictor 3600s for all my terminal tackle. Plenty of dividers. I will send photos later.

They have lots of compartments and you can choose how big or small to make them

@Bluebasser86what bobber stoppers do you use?  They look like they have a larger diameter than most.

They are just cheap ones from Ali or Temu. They don’t hold really well if you’re flipping really heavy cover but they work well for a majority of situations I need them for and they were only a couple bucks.

I need something like this but also a want a way of labeling everything for size/weight.

Otherwise I have random hooks and weights and don’t know their size.

Labels on inside of lid so when it is open they correspond to compartments.  Easy to read and easy to change if you rearrange compartments.

I use the 3700 thin for weights/jigheads, and the Plano Terminal box (below) for only hooks.

I bought one of those fancy screw boxes with all the different sized screws in their own compartments once. Great at first glance, until you knock it over.

Delivered. I am a big fan of terminal tackle organization. For those of you that told me 2 3600s of terminal tackle was only the beginning, you were correct

Heres my minimalist setup for Small Mouth Bass fishing.   This stays up front with me at all times on my boat and kayak.  It's a Daiwa box made from Meiho.  All small terminal stays in its slot and never overlapse.  As you can see I also put my extra terminals in an old soft plastic bag keeping them in the original bag so they do not rust all together.  Everything  fits inside the Lakewood plastic storage.  I also have an additional big Evolution terminal box if I need anything I grab from their.  This has been the most efficient way for me so far...

After going through a few different options, I came up with this.  The OCD binder:

So, looks like a regular binder... but what are those organizers?

I found a company that makes a bunch of different 3 ring binder pages of pockets.  They have pages with 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 10 pockets among other things. Thus far it's been great.

www.storesmart.com

I realized the major drawback of the soft plastics binder is the soft plastics themselves.  They're too large and thick to work well in a book format.  Likewise with hook wallets - great in principle but too small in practice.  I started looking for an extra large hook wallet and ended up with this.  It has a couple zipper pockets that are good for new stuff in the package and go-back tackle.  I am not known for being an organized person so this is a feat for me.

It doesn't work for walking the bank or in a kayak, but I just pick what I'll need for those situations and hang it on a safety pin.  Then, the safety pin goes in one small section of the pocket box.  I still need to order a VCI emitter to ward off rust.
