So what's your other obsession?

I’m also a big fan of frog gigging but I don’t have any good places to go like we did as youngsters. Might start trying the rivers but ponds are where it’s at and I don’t have access to any, maybe one or two with some homework and driving

I read. Alot. Now that it's too cold to fish, I spend almost all my free time reading and listening to audiobooks. I also write occasionally, mostly essays for myself.

Just started this book tonight:

This list could be long but here are some top ones

-Long range tactical shooting matches (PRS) (large bore and 22lr). Been doing this for about a decade now, accumulated quite a few trophies but have since done it more for enjoyment than chasing titles.

-Reloading. With the PRS matches I got into it to squeeze every bit of accuracy I could and at this point its just cheaper and something I can do while my wife is doing her sewing or crafts in the same room.

-Building rifles (machining barrels, etc) (particularly clones of military sniper rifles). I build all of my match rifles, taking blank barrels and chambering and fitting them to each action. My cloning of rifles is fun, you have to hunt down period correct parts or even returned military parts that hold provenance. My two nicest clones are a MK13 Mod 5 built off a return stock kit from Seal Team 2 and a Unertl 10x return scope that was used in Vietnam and the very early stages of GWOT. In total I've owned or built 6 bolt action rifles, 4 ARs and 1 pistol, all clones with and without return parts. It's like recreating history.

-RC Car racing. Havent done this one in a bit but still have 2 cars set up for indoor dirt track racing.

-Gaming, recently built a gaming computer and got back into this. Mainly an hour or 2 before bed after the kids have gone to sleep, my wife is doing her crafts and I dont have a match to reload for. Winter is more often when there is less to do and shorter days.

In the next year or 2 I'll be adding a project car to this list. Keep floating between a Factory Five Type65 Coupe kit, Lotus Elise/Exige or a RX7 FD (rotary engines fascinate me).

When I not fishing, I play golf. I work a few days at my course to finance my golfing and fishing, also get free golf. I also play guitar. I live 1 mile from the golf course and 3 miles from my fishing hole.

Like @MN Fisher, I enjoy building scale models. I build cars and trucks, usually race cars. I should have taken up computer stuff as I couldn’t resize my photos to add to this post. Also enjoy reading, music and home improvement.

Just read a quick blurb on it, I'll be checking it out, looks to be be right up my alley! If you like scifi dramas I can recommend 3 body problem and a new season of fallout just dropped too.

You're lucky to have non ethanol gas available. In Illinois, that isn't an option.

Sorry to jump off topic, but I don't want you to miss out.  I have a gas station 8 minutes  from my home.  Also three of my regular lakes have ethanol-free at the dock.  Here's a good list if you want to look for it:

Thanks!

Big gun guy. More specifically precision target shooting. I used to be a C&R dealer(think antique firearms) back in the day but I let my license lapse.

@scaleface I'm not surprised, they're popular. One last recco most have not seen is called "Dark", it's a subtitled German film that's very intense and complex, mind blowing imo https://www.netflix.com/title/80100172
