I have to send mine in, got the address off line. I don’t know about what the rule is now, but when I had mine. I mailed them in and, waited…..and waited…… then waited some more. It didn’t cost me anything but shipping.

I get them now from Walmart in the fishing section now, I can have a few pairs stashed around, boat shop truck. Davy jones is wearing my costas.

Good luck, Costa is a shell of what it use to be. It's now a limited warranty and up to them to determine if the damage is covered or not. If they decide it's not covered, you can pay a repair fee to have them fixed.

I use to have a few pairs but sold them and have Bajios now. Great glasses and great people to deal with.

My 18 month old pair broke at temple arm a few months ago. Claim denied...called it normal wear and tear. Sent a coupon instead.

They're not the same because Luxottica now owns them, so you can kiss quality and customer service goodbye! When you buy a pair of sunglasses, you're likely buying something from Luxottica. I avoid them like the plaque, but it's getting harder and harder every year to do so, they own EVERYTHING! I like Maui Jim, who is still independent.

Key Companies and Brands Under Luxottica

Licensed Brands: Chanel, Prada, Burberry, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co., Coach, Valentino, Miu Miu, Polo Ralph Lauren, and others.

Retail Chains (100% owned): LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, Pearle Vision, OPSM, Target Optical, Sears Optical, BJ’s Optical, Cole Vision Care, and others.

He’s right, Luxottica has a big share of ownership in the eyeglass/sunglasses business now.

When I bought my costas about 5 years ago, they were still an independently owned company.

I had an issue a few months back with costa and I vented in here and it got shut down real quick. Costa no longer offers a lifetime warranty. That changed when Luxxotica bought them out. I switched from costa to Maui Jim recently and could be happier.

Many years ago I switched to Smith and never looked back, even before the buyout Costa floundered pretty bad on quality in my opinion, seemed like it went in waves, as did the quality of their service, up and down, hot and cold...

I have tried a lot of glasses over the years, how they fit your face is very important to the overall experience so your mileage may vary, but Smith's glass lenses are the best I have found and if you wanted to just have one pair of shades, their polarchromic lenses are the way to go... Only had one dealing with their customer service over the years when a lens began to delaminate seemingly, they replaced the glasses no questions asked, even though they were out of warranty period... Can't ask for much more than that...

The old "beater" pair of Smith's I keep in my truck are over 10 years old and still look great. Keep the nice new ones in the boat...

I vastly prefer glass over plastic lenses, tiny bit heavier, but clearer and more durable... I have taken big metal trolling "Dodgers" to the face netting Salmon on Lake Michigan when clients pulled too hard last minute and pulled the hooks out of fish, didn't phase the lenses despite taking a direct blow. Plastic would have scratched for sure...

This is not what I wanted to read! I've got 3 pairs of Costas. I sat on a pair a few years ago and sent them in. They charged around $100 or a little less than half price and I was pleased with that. That was probably with the old regime. I tried to get a replacement nosepad a couple years ago and trying to find one on their site or to email them was a waste of time.

What frame nosepad were you looking for? I was wearing the “pro” series and that’s the nosepad that disintegrates. They are not sold as replacements from costa. You can find them on the interwebs, but I didn’t have luck…

They are 25 year-old glasses. Still in great shape though. I've looked all over the place online.

I recently had a run in with them but not for Costas but for prescription glasses from Target. The frame on my wife's glasses started to delaminate. They were only a few days old. They cost $450 with insurance, which they own as well. Not covered, even with their worthless 30 day guarantee.

We have found its cheaper to go to Costco and pay their full price than using our insurance at an approved retailer.

What a con.

The Costa OGs formed Bajío. Been wearing them for 2 years now and absolutely would buy another pair if needed

Yeah good luck. Used to be awesome now they tell you tough luck or it's a crapshoot. Same glasses bought a the same time the nose pad failed. One they warrantied for a fee and the other they said no.

So here is an update on the costa’s. Luxottica said my costa’s are out of warranty and there’s nothing they can do. So I ask is there a way I can just get an arm to replace the one that’s broken? So it is now a waiting game. So that’s my update. Y’all have a good one and happy fishing.

Update #2, I received a email from costa that they didn’t have an arm for my sunglasses. But they will give me 50% off on a new pair. So I guess that’s the end of it. Being a correctional officer in a state that has the 2nd lowest pay in the country, that’s still a lot a money to spend on sunglasses. Anyway thanks for all the replies, happy fishing.

You are probably eligible for expert voice. If so, you already get a 50% discount. So, all in, you didn’t get anything from Costa. I posted about this a bit ago, but my post got shutdown for badmouthing the vendor.

Honestly 50% off is better than I was expecting to hear at this point.

I haven’t had to deal with their warranty or customer service. But I can say with reasonable positivity that the sunglasses they make are high quality. I see things in the water that I literally never saw before.

@Smirak you make a really great point.

@Justbass11 - ugh, sorry to hear that

Perhaps check out SolarBat sunglasses Solar Bat - Eye Care Professionals - Sunglasses Men & Women

They have a strong reputation for serving their customers well (and an excellent product, the owner in a fisherman and ophthalmologist)

Kinda a shame about Costa. I had a pair for almost 20 yrs that were still going strong when I lost them overboard. Couldn’t really get a good deal on a new Rx pair, so I started shopping elsewhere. Ended up buying 2 pair from Zenni, polarized with green mirrored lenses & with Rx for about half the price of one pair of Costas.

Now I’m glad I didn’t get Costas. So far the Zennis are holding up well but I’ve only fished with them for 1 season.
