Bassmaster should let people know what is going on. Gross may have got skunked. Maybe Cox was late.

That’s what I was thinking

Im just happy to have something to do at work again!

  • I figured since they were pulling them up on traps, I’d go try the same. Just stayed local to HSV instead of going to Guntersville. Anyway, I’m not a pro. I lost both traps I took with me in the same

  • John Cox weighed in 2 fish, one just barely a keeper and the other was short. With the penalty, that's how he ended up -1lb.

I figured since they were pulling them up on traps, I’d go try the same. Just stayed local to HSV instead of going to Guntersville. Anyway, I’m not a pro. I lost both traps I took with me in the same place within about 20 casts. I know the hazard is there, it’s a cable or something, but there’s a good laydown just past it that usually holds decent fish. You have about 20-30’ of retrieve before you better go tip up and hope you didn’t misjudge distance or you’re breaking off. It’s a really decent fishery, but sometimes I wish it would lose so much water I could get all my baits back! It’s got two traps and at least one bladed jig that I know of…😂😂

Buddy gross is amazing with a trap, I predict he may show up on the upper portion of the leaderboard

Well so much for that , guess he didn’t make it back to the ramp

Not sure I'd use one day plus a couple hours of the 2026 season to say "I told you so" just quite yet.

Might want to wait until there's actually more of a reasonable data set available to back up that statement. Just sayin'

Oh, I am pretty confident those guys can fish. Gonna start the victory lap now and be totally insufferable about it too.

Pretty interesting yesterday. My son was sick so I stayed home and had it on in the background while I did work. Lipless crankbaits and chatterbaits, using 360 to find hard spots and holes in the grass.

Seeing them have to deal with ice in guides and conditions was fantastic.

Kyoyah Fujita was the only one that said anything about not having FFS at the weigh in yesterday. He said he couldn't find the fish without it.(Or at least that's what I think he said with his accent he's very hard to understand)

@LootyDjibouti me either, he’s on my fantasy team.

A few guys during the live said it was a hard adjustment as well. Of course it is when you take a tool away that works well for you.

I noticed at one point yesterday the reel that Johnston was using had a bad bearing in it... I can't believe he continued using it. Also, I really dislike the sound of the DC reels used by some. We haven't heard many baitcasters used in recent years I feel.

Stone Cold in the lead. Like I said in the fantasy thread. Never bet against a professional gambler!

I don't think we are going to get a century mark unless someone can really pull a special bag.

It’s painfully obvious this is killing Randy Howell watching these dudes still fishing. Props for getting on the broadcast but man…

Jamie Hartman , that spinning rod & jighead minnow is crushing it!

@JediAmoeba I too really hate the whine of DC reels on camera. I couldn’t stand throwing one in person. I noticed that in some of Jacob wheelers videos on the tube as well. He uses one occasionally (crankbaits I think).

I watched the broadcast version this morning and that’s some wild conditions to be catching as many 5#+ fish as they are that shallow. Low 40’s water and some of those fish are eating. Makes me excited for next month.

How the howe did Howe finish 99th in his backyard?

They aren't used to it being this cold. Most are saying they have never fished it this cold.

There have been two Classics in recent years when the morning temps were in the teens, and it didn't get much warmer than that through the day.

They're saying they've never fished it that cold? Must be the ones that didn't fish those Classics. Otherwise they should have their memories tested. LOL

I think they may be referencing the water temps. It was only 37-38 when they started practicing... That's cold for those poor southern boys. Lol
