Hi everybody, my name is Pablo. I'm Spanish and currently living in Colombia.

I’ve been fishing since I was 10 years old, with a break between the ages of 16 and 22.

I became a professional fishing guide in 2010. I’ve guided for eight and a half seasons targeting black bass (largemouth bass) and pike in Spain. Since 2017, I’ve been working in Colombia and other countries as well, often organizing trips for peacock bass.

Fishing is my lif, I need to be close to the water. When I was working in Spain, I spent more than 200 days a year on the water. Now I have a family, but I still spend at least 100 days a year on the water.

Glad to be here and looking forward to learning more about this awesome sport.

Hello @Pablo Chaves from Northern California, welcome Pablo to Bass Resource and the Forums!

Hello Pablo!! Welcome to the Bass Resource family!! Happy to have ya!!

I was in Spain back in 2002. My aunt owns a 3 bedroom condo, on 2nd floor right across from the ocean, down in Fuengirola, along the southern coast. It was great. I remember sitting on balcony at night watching cruise ships 🚢 coming and going. Fun time.

Hello Flying High, thanks for your message. Fuegirola is in Malaga, I've been in Malaga capital at least three times, always in summer. Good weather, good food and nice people, what else?

I've got to know more about this. Who is stocking the largemouth bass in Spain? How big do they get? What kind of techniques do you use to catch them?

Hi Rucksack, sorry for my late answer, but I had forum problems.

You can find black all around Spain. Best Spain communities for it are Extremadura and Andalucia.

My biggest was a 7.5 lb so more than a 3 kg that is the magic barrier to overcome. The good anglers always are looking for fish over 2 kg, because the 3 kg isn't easy and off course there are less.

We have nothern bass, we don't have floridanus or hybrid black bass.

To catch them we use in Spain differents techniques such as wacky, jig (craw), shacky jighead, swimbait, neko rig, etc with all kind of hard lures of soft lures.
