g- i don't have a position on using / not using a net, i am just stating how i do it. I have nothing against nets or those that use them.

I don't use a net. I am fun fishing, if he gets away- he gets away. I was going to release him anyway. It adds a little excitement at the boat. And no, i don't consider it caught unless it makes it inside the boat.

Add Barlows and Lurepartsonline to your search list. They sell in 5 packs painted (around $10) or unpainted for less than $6. The price has just about doubled since covid. I have bought from all three shops and satisfied with all. I loves me some spinnerbaits, haven't bought an assembled one in decades.

Depends. I fish natural lakes that are mostly under 500 acres, with maximum depths from 40 to 100 feet. I do okay with lm, sm, and pike, but i could never be a guide. I have never fished bridges/ rip-rap, dams, current besides wind, creek channels, old road beds, standing timber, submerged timber, bluff banks, cypress knees, a stand of reeds, so in the big picture, i am a decent angler for the lakes i fish- but would be like a rookie in the grand scheme of bass fishing.

Yeah, catching 4 & 5 lb smallmouth on a dropshot in 20+ feet of water really sux....

I will use my 7' med spinning rod for anything up to 1/2 oz, hard or soft baits. Except for a jig, will only go to 3/8 oz. I don't have a mh spin rod, but they make them.

I bought a 6 pack of the squarebills back in the day from an advertisement in a magazine. The add talked about a husband & wife caught 100 pounds of lm on some lake down south below a dam....

I take 8 combos because that's all my locker holds. 5 always go, and the other 3 are dependent on season or lake.

Hey cowboy...that's a "travel - bob", he had a booth at our local boat / fishing show way back when. I never owned one. But a cool idea for the shore-bound angler.
