Now THAT was FUNNY!! I thought a midget in TEXAS would be about 6' tall since MOST everything in TEXAS is bigger and better! A Texan and an Alaskan were arguing about how much larger things were in their respective states. The Alaskan guys says "We got fish in our state that measure up to 6' long" The Texan replies: "6'? That's not all that big now is it?? We also got fish that measure 6'!" The Alaskan guys answers: "Oh yeah. You got 6' long fish too?" Texan: "Now pardner, I didn't say 6' LONG. We measure fish between the eyes!"
  3. Super glad you and your family are OK RW!! I've been in numerous tornadoes while living in Kankakee and they are the most violent and destructive storm on the planet. Once again, I am super glad you all got through that scary situation OK!!
  4. Ditto to what fishtank said!
  5. IF he continually fails to accept a challenge, doesn't that make the very title of the show "Beat Charlie More" FALSE advertising by the sponsors??
  6. Cool!!! Meeting celebrities is always a thrill, at least the ones who act like human beings instead of arrogant "head cases". IMO:o)
  7. Those are some huge toothy critters you caught there!! Congratulations!!
  8. +2 to what hawg caller said. Depths can reach 50+ feet in many of the lakes around here:o)
  9. REFUND?? REFUND?? What the he..'s a REFUND?? My wife and I haven't had one of those in over 10 years. We usually end up paying out more, especially to the Republic of Kalifornia:o( Out here, you step out the door and take a breath of air and the State will TAX you on it.
  10. Happy Birthday to you AND my oldest son who's BD is also 2/6. He will be 37.
  11. RW: words of wisdom to live by. IMO:o)
  12. Too much. I need to downsize/consolidate all four boxes and large Okechobee bag into no more than 2. I'm working on that before our next outing!
  13. x4 on the Pflueger President and the Pflueger Trion might be another option. You can also check out the new older models of the Okuma Metaloid that are available on Ebay in you price range. Hard to beat the Presidents for their cost, IMO:o)
  14. Report: trip on Saturday was great! We fished for 9 hours straight and had a fantastic time. Unfortunately, the water temp was only around 56 degrees and the bite was not very good. I caught a small 1 1/2 LMB on a jig w/4" watermelon tube and our visitor from Fla caught a 2 pounder on a 6" worm with a shakey tail. It didn't appear that anyone on Lower Otay was catching much at all. We did see one float tuber land what appeared to be a 3 - 4 pounder as we drifted by him. Still, the whole day was FUN and I didn't get skunked. Can't wait to go back when the bass are more active. Had two guys tell us they landed an 8 pounder and a 10 pounder the previous weekend. Planning another all dayer a week from this Saturday with my Boss but I may go sooner even if I have to fish from shore:o)
  15. I purchased a few DVD's on Fly Fishing and Fly Fishing for Bass and they were excellent. I also found that simply asking questions on BR and watching fine TV shows like Bass Pros and Angling Edge (and others) can increase one's knowledge immensly. IMO:o)
  16. I liked the half-time show too during which I watched a taped episode of Bass Pros:o)
  17. Cycling, jogging, fly tying (soon:o), treasure hunting/metal detecting, scuba diving, pool/billiards, ice skating, rollerblading, roller skating (how I met my wife 38 years ago:o), and restoring muscle cars.
  18. Management Analyst with only 80 working days left until RETIREMENT:o)
  19. x3 to what Sam and Fishfordollars said!!!
  20. I have Cox Communications here in San Diego, but it is expensive (what isn't in Kalifornia?). When I go back to my mini-farm in Indiana, I'll have to get some kind of satellite dish service:o)
  21. Victoria's Secret was my favorite along with the Dorittos one with the guy getting beat up by the big mouse:o)
  22. 2/2/08 - Lower Otay Lake. 1 1/2 LMB on a jig & 4" watermelon tube that I released. Water was too cold and the bass weren't biting much at all. Bummer:o)
  23. From shore: 7 fish at one time! 2 small bass, 3 suckers (these are called shiners by some) and 2 catfish. I snagged a metal stringer that someone had lost with all the fish on it and still alive. I thought I had a monster until I saw what I was reeling in. Weird:o)
  24. Only if I intended to eat it. However, since there are better tasting fish for the table, i.e. crappie, perch, walleye, catfish, I'd fish for those to eat. I pretty much C&R all the bass I have caught.

The Jake: This year I don't care much. I just want the patriots to lose. DITTO to that. I said I wasn't even going to watch the game and that I was going to go fishing. It turned out that I went fishing ALL day yesterday and it's a good thing since the weather here today is cold, raining, and very windy. I did a lot of work finishing up the remodeling of our master bedroom and then was so dang tired that I sat down to have a few well deserved brewskis and ended up watching the game and eating pizza. Since I am a Charger fan and can't stand the Mannings and don't like the arrogant Patriots and their coach (I also used to be a huge Dolphins fan in the early 70s and wanted to see their unbeaten record remain intact even though I think almost ANY of the elite AFC or NFC teams of today could/would "mop the floor" with the unbeaten '72 Dolphins) I didn't care who won. I wanted both teams to loose but the cheerleaders weren't playing:o(
