  1. Chateau St Michelle Columbia River Cabernet has been my inexpensive go-to for a while. It is not a huge oaky California cab. It is softer and drinkable and fantastic with almost anything grilled or chocolate
  2. Not enough time now…. They beat us up and down the field from the jump.
  3. Still plenty of time.
  4. This was actually Lake Menderchuck… @A-Jay is just trying to throw you off. It was off the southwest part of the northeast shore fishing shallow with a deep crank on a Carolina rig for walleye…
  5. Paul Harvey stayed at a hotel I was working at - there’s no mistaking that voice.
  6. News is still news. Media is not news; media is a business and a very profitable one at that. The different reporting referenced above is media. The fact that a person attacked Pelosi’s husband with a hammer is news, and despicable at that. Different medias from dark corners to large corporate outlets produce narratives on news to fit their demographic and bring viewers which then bring money. The more polarized it is, the closer you are to 50% of the money. Rinse and repeat.
  7. Oh boy, in no particular order: bike handlebars, grill lighter, 1 lb of Twizzlers + 1 lb of M&Ms + a whole loaf of bread (dog was still standing on the counter and couldn’t get down after this exploit), the heels of a brand new pair of climbing shoes, a dozen night crawlers, various kitchen towels, rat poison, a night mask, and a ribeye. Labs are too smart and complete idiots all at the same time. Also - the thanksgiving turkey carcass, my dryer vent, and various parts of my AC compressor
  8. We score a lot of points. And our defense has really been coming on. There’s a whole different confidence to this team, and Herndon Hooker looks absolutely unflappable.
  9. They’re tools, just like boats. Clearly it’s not a tool you use for however you fish.
  10. We used to have one of the Mad River canoes you could buy at Dicks. 14 fter I think. We paddled that thing all over the Potomac around DC. TERRIBLE primary stability but great secondary. You really had to do something stupid to put a gunnel under water. The lack of primary stability led to multiple instances of me getting a wet arse while trying to board at various launches - it would tilt then slide away from you if that first foot wasn’t centered or far side. Nothing like a day of paddling with soggy muddy shorts.
  11. Eh, it was a hybrid sit-in and I had a spray skirt. I could Eskimo roll it. I could…I didn’t say I liked it. You could paddle up river right and sit in the slack water while the screws were turning, if something pulled you into the fast water you just rode it downstream until you eddy’d out. Great place to fish though
  12. I caught one over 30 below Ft Loudon dam when I was a college kid in a kayak. It towed me about a mile downriver once it drug me into the current. I was a smaller kid in a smaller kayak back then…
  13. I mean… that pretty expensive but that’s a nice glitter sled.
  14. With that lead you don’t need any help casting it on a spinning rod, especially once they’re wet.
  15. Eggs are fine, but eat 1 or 2 not 6 or 7. Putting down your fork quickest, easiest, and most effective workout to lose weight and get overall healthier.
  16. Eat food as close to the form it grew in. Lean meat and vegetables, and cheese should not be a ‘sauce’. We’re not all going to look like @A-Jay but we can at least we can give our circulatory systems a break.
  17. You give my wife a decent spinning rod and she will catch the biggest bass that day. Fav lures are a white cavitron in 3/8 or a 1/8 oz gold rooster tail in ‘grasshopper’. She will outfish you with just those two. She tells the bait monkey to stfu and hold. Her. Beer. She is from Chicago and is not to be trifled with.
  18. Mini Slammer - phenomenal bait. Go bigger if you want…7” is great, 9” and larger, also great. Don’t really need Swimbait gear until you’re really in the big ones
  19. I have two that I’ve posted about before: Fishing right below (and I mean within a few feet) Ft London dam in the slack water well away from fast water from the turbines, fishing towards the corner wall. WHOOOSH it feels like I’ve been shot straight up out of a cannon. I was parked over the outlet for the lock, and they started lowering it. I’m not proud of the noise I made. Fishing Calderwood Lake in late summer and a horrific thunderstorm rolled through. My line stopped falling to the water and kind of floated/danced in the air, and there was this weird humming coming from the rod. I hauled arse to shore. Pulled the boat up a little and ducked in a small dry cave. I’ve never seen a storm like that that Jim Cantore wasn’t involved in. It lasted about an hour and the temp dropped so much I built a fire in the cave; I was getting dangerously cold.
  20. If you ever think you’re going to take anyone with you, get the Prowler. If not, it’s more of a toss-up related to storage space and how you want to fish. You can arguably cover more ground quicker in a yak, but moving around on a prowler is more convenient and comfortable. People will argue those last two points. ? They’re both great, just a little different stylistically
  21. The idea and leverage is all the same if it’s 180 lbs and the extra length actually makes it easier. I load from the side not the back because of a rear air foil/high brake light on my 4Runner. I will say if there’s no good handholds it’ll be a huge challenge though. Towels and pool noodles are your friend until you get the process down.
  22. If the over/under against Georgia isn’t triple digits, take the over. Should be even less defense in that one! GO VOLS!!!!
  23. Is that a badger in East TN? GO VOLS!!
  24. I make a savory oatmeal - Cook it with chicken or beef stock and a healthy dose of black pepper and a little salt and garlic. Add one patty of crumbled sausage (I like Neuse locally) and put a over easy egg on top. It will keep you full for a while. I tell people it’s instant breakfast haggis.
