Whats YALL's favorite Grubs?
5" Kalin's Lunker grubs

eye hooked bass.
I've done this myself and I've caught a lot of fish missing an eye. I'm sure it does damage their ability to hunt but I read about a study where blindfolded bass could still catch prey easily without sight by using their lateral line.

Best length for top water?
I prefer a 6'6" medium action rod with a fast tip for topwater and jerkbaits.

When you cant find a pattern.....
I tie on a confidence bait and I keep the boat moving. Cover as much water as possible. When you get a bass pay attention to where he came from, how deep he was, how he was hooked, etc. then try to replicate those conditions elsewhere on the lake. Oh btw I sent you a PM.

Releasing injured fish....how well do they heal??
As long as its not bleeding from the gills and the hook didn't damage any organs it'll be fine. If I have a bass that is bleeding badly from the gills I'll take him home and put him in the frying pan. I really hate keeping bass but if the end up dying on me I sort of feel like its my responsibility. Luckily this doesn't happen often (twice in the past five years).

Where to find bass in the summer
If your lake has any matted vegetation thats where I would be. I'm a sucker for grass (the aquatic variety ) Try fishing frogs on the mats, if the time is right the frog-fishing can be awesome. Another thing: don't downsize when it gets hot in the summer, instead upsize. When its really hot fish don't want to expend a lot of energy searching for a meal so they will hit large slow moving lures that crawl right past their face. Try some 10" power worms or some large jigs.

Speaking of the Curado E: I swore not to tell, but I have to. Lookee what I got...
Mega-jealous lol. I just have to have on of those to match my Shimano Curado E screensaver. Oh, and please tell me you didn't pay for that ;D.

Ban on Soft Plastic Baits
That surprises me coming out of Maine. When I read ban on soft plastics California immediately came to mind (they seem to enjoy banning things). I bet California will jump on the on the ban-soft plastics boat soon though. They'll probably discover that wild condors are eating the trout and are dying as a result and we just can't have that.

New Fuji Reelseats
Is there anywhere that you can buy the new Fuji reelseats like the ones found on the new Zillion rods. I'd really like to get my hands on one of them.

custom curado finished
Thats awesome. What kind of paint did you use. I want to try this on an old BPS extreme and see how it works out.

AM I MISSING SOMETHING ?
If thats the case we're both missing something because I cannot fathom how Quantum could be be in the top three let alone number one. I've heard some good things about Quantum rods but not G Loomis good. There must be some kind of mistake.

G-Loomis Spinnerbait Rods
Does anyone have any experience with the G-Loomis spinnerbait rods. I'm looking into getting one soon and I was wondering what the benefits are that make these rods so much better for spinnerbaits. I never been dissapointed with any loomis rod so I'm sure it will be great but exactly what advantages does it offer?

Zillion rods in the House
Amen. I'd love to put a g loomis blank on one of those real seats.

Anybody Else Do This?
Lol I use the exact same argument.

How many casts before changing it up????
It really depends on how much confidence I have in what I'm using. If i'm confident that I'm using the right lure I'll throw it for hours without a bite.

quantum tour edition
I love mine and I plan on ordering another one from cabelas (129.99!) soon but they are definitely not the best on the market. The 2009 ones look sick thought.

Bass Pro Shop Broken Rod
BPS is great about returns. A guy I know recently returned a 3 or 4 year old shimano reel without a recent. They gave him no problems.

Most productive bass lure type ?
Soft plastics

Modifying your rods? HELP!
I converted one of my old extreme rods into a split grip rod. It was very easy and it looks great. To do this I just took an x-acto knife and slipped it between the two cork rings I wanted to start the split at. Take the x-acto the entire way around between the rings to make sure that the two rings get separated. Next do the same thing where you want the split grip to end. Then take the knife and whittle down the cork between the two cuts. Take off as much as you can with the knife until you get down to the glue/epoxy. When you have as much cork off as you can get, take some 100 grit sandpaper and sand the epoxy and the remaining cork off. If the sandpaper won't take off the epoxy you can try a file as long as you're careful not to file into the blank. Once you have most of the epoxy removed take some fine sandpaper to get the rest of it off. After that I took some rod varnish and varnished the split grip area. Note: This worked very well and was easy to do on an extreme rod but I have no experience with lightning rods.

Who influenced the way you fish?
I really taught myself to fish. My dad fishes but he isn't into it as much as I am. I learned mostly from books, magazines, and trial and error. I really started learning the most when I joined a club and started fishing tournaments. That combined with bassresource has helped me immensely.
