Love New Truck Day ~
Latest is that the New AT4 has made to Flint, MI. Which is 3 hrs or so south. Rig should be at the local dealership here in a week or two. A short visit to the dealer this morning to iron out a few last details. Order a new Bed Rug, Blacked out GMC emblems and a set of Cooper Discover AT3 XLT tires. I initially deliberately ordered the cheapest stock rubber GMC offered with intentions of replacing them. Dealers 'buying' them back. (I'll take a little hit) Said accessories will be installed prior to my pick-up. Thinking last week on this month. A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
Total Body Day 3 this morning. At 64 years old, just mustering up the drive to get in the gym every other day, is a major victory all by itself. Adding drive & determination to push yourself to do what you didn't know you could, has far reaching benefits that go well beyond just the physical and mental confidence. Helping to manage and be willing to cope with life's Stress come to mind. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

Truck Tires
BTW ~ and I may have mentioned this before but . . . . . Since it seems like "Tires" are a popular discussion point, I have been a faithful and super satisfied Tire Rack customer for over 20 years. Purchased 'several' sets of tires, wheels, and even a few wheel/tire packages; which arrive mounted & balanced (very nice). The research, reviews and on line advice available are all very helpful and they offer very competitive pricing. The shipping is fast, usually free and their road hazard deal leads the industry IMO, also free. I ordered a set of Coopers yesterday, they are arriving tomorrow and again, free shipping. Think you can tell I'm a fan. I say, check them out. https://www.tirerack.com/content/tirerack/desktop/en/homepage.html A-Jay

Truck Tires
Very Nice & Thanks ~ The BFG AT KO2's are my "summer wheels". Great tires also IMO. I'm never going to be coming close to approaching the warranty mileage on most of the rubber that I run. So I get the best the tire has to offer for 20k or 30k or so and then they go by-by. I like new stuff. And there's never a shortage of folks lining up to buy them used - ever. A-Jay

Coping with chronic heart ache ~
Been 5 weeks of declining blood test results. Hematologist ordered a bone marrow biopsy which Lynn had this morning. Results will be back in a few days. Should have some more 'answers.' But honestly, I don't really want to know. It's probably not going to be good. Sleep's been an issue for us both. Stay healthy my friends. A-Jay

Ever Hire A Fishing Guide?
Been fishing with a guide at least one a year (sometimes twice) for the past 10 years. (never locally). With only a few exceptions it's been the same guide, Manual. We are on water where I could never guide myself as I have Zero local knowledge and the huge lake is not Mapped. So I am totally dependent on his knowledge, skill and experience to make each and every one of the 5-7 day trips memorable. The guys a blast to fish with and he Never disappoints. I learn something new just about every trip. However my most important take away has been learning what it takes to consistently put really big largemouth bass in the net. My final piece of advice, is to ask the guide how & what you should fish, and then fish it like your life depended on it. Even if you are familiar water and you think his 'idea/method' is 'cooky'. Do it anyway, you'll end up having a good day one way or the other. Good Luck.

Bass Boat Paddles Or Oar's?
Paddles / oars in a full size Bass Boat was a moot point 14 years ago when the OP came up. And it's still a moot point today. A-Jay

How often do you go into your tacklebox while fishing?
I'm part of the @Team9nine club ~ Where I'll "formulate a game plan, rig up for it, then live or die with it, letting it play out to its conclusion." It' does help that my tackle box floats, is quite mobile and has more than enough space. Allows me to routinely show up with plenty of options. I have a bad feeling that this is going to be a Loooooong winter. A-Jay

I'm shopping for a trailer.
I purchased this trailer for my Old Town in 2008. The bare hull weighs 120 lbs and is just under 16 ft long. It's been very good. Replaced the tires, trailer lighting & fenders a few years ago. Unfortunately the price has just about doubled since then but it's still a decent unit http://www.castlecraft.com/canoe_trailer.htm A-Jay

Your Average 5 Fish Bag
Most every trip I'm targeting a specific size of smallmouth - 4 lbs is a good starting point for me. Super early Pre-Spawn is really the only time I'm actually anticipating being able to catch 5 of that class of brown bass. The rest of the year, I'm almost always hunting individual fish. Late summer and in the early fall, the numbers of plus size fish can & usually do pick up. But even then, 2 or 3 over 5lbs is a Really good day for me. So while I love to look back at what my biggest bag of the season was and what my 5 biggest bass of the year weighted, my per trip yearly average weight is always going to be weak, and for my style of bassing somewhat misleading. Either way, this is what it looked like in 2023. I was on the water right about 50 times during this campaign. (about 20 or so lower than the past several years) Many trips included some smaller bass, even no fish or 'other species'. Notable catches for the year were: 27 over 4 lbs, 13 over 5 lbs and 1 over 6 lbs. Using some real rough monkey math, that's not much more than a 3 lb 'average' per trip. Hardly worth writing home about. But you know who's not bummed out about that. This Guy. Because in my world, it only takes ONE CAST to make the whole year. Fish Hard A-Jay (btw-this is an old thread).
