  1. National Safe Boating Week will be held from May 17-23, 2025, reminding all boaters to brush up on boating safety skills and prepare for the boating season. This observance week is the annual kick-off of the Safe Boating Campaign, a global awareness effort that encourages boaters to make the most of their boating adventure by being responsible. The U.S. Coast Guard urges all Americans to take a moment to reflect on the boating behaviors that will keep you, your loved ones, and those around you safe while on the water. Stay Safe A-Jay
  2. Heck of a bag @king fisher Congrats A-Jay
  3. It's a tradition and a way for me to stay connected to my youth and better times. A-Jay I like that guy's style, although his accent takes some getting used to. 🤪 A-Jay
  4. The 10 inch Power worm isn't super meaty, so depending on that type/brand of EWG hook used, 5/0 or 6/0 should be good. Btw, when that worm first came out, I was buying 100 count bags of the black and the blue fleck. Stupid good. Pretty sure I still have some too however I am slightly embarrassed to admit how old they are. Good Luck 👍 A-Jay
  5. The front section of my lawn escaped the brunt of the storm damage. So that bit got the spring treatment of weed & feed. After replacing several of the sprinkle heads (Run over by tree removal vehicles) and filling in the ruts they made, it's starting to show signs of it's old self. Yesterday was the first cut. Sharp mower blades are essential. A-Jay
  6. OK ~ For air temps and or wind chills on the water that dip into or below the 30's, I wear a moisture wicking (thin) base layer top & bottom. Brands are Columbia, Simms, & Under Amour. Second layer is mid to heavy weight Thermal Midlayer top & bottom (Simms) Next is a thermal wind blocking fleece heavy weight Hoodie. (Simms) Finally I cover it all up with a Simms Insulated Challenger Jacket & Bibs. The feets get Cabela's Midcalf Polypropylene Liner, Simms Men's Merino Thermal OTC Socks, and slightly oversized Columbia Titanium Insulated Boots. A-Jay

  8. Going to be passing on today's training. Had a bit of a medical thing late yesterday and a rest day afterwards is propably a better plan. Expect to be back at it tomorrow. A-Jay
  9. Not this time. I was following your lead on this one. A-Jay
  10. Nailed it. I stop targeting Brown bass seasonally from June thru All of July. August is when things start to pick back up for me. And it's often pretty decent. A-Jay
  11. At least you'll have less grubs in the garden. A-Jay
  12. I am a Weather Hawk during the entire open water season. Especially early and late season. Weather/Wind conditions are Second on the list of fishing drivers for me right After the season pattern. So I check it At Least once a day but when conditions start to set up in my favor, it's more like every few hour of my waking day. Yup. I have a problem, but at least I know it. A-Jay
  13. First one of the year. And it's a FAT one ! A-Jay
  14. I hate hearing this but it seems this deal is repeating itself more & more recently. While it's happened sporadically on a fairly small scale up here, I'm hoping to avoid the wildly devastating and more wide spread stuff for just a few more years. A-Jay
  15. Agreed, especially since this one made history as the lowest winning weight ever recorded at a Bassmaster Elite event. And that's saying something. ☹️ A-Jay
  16. Depends on the season for me. Either way, my favorite big fish waters all include 3 hours (give or take) round trip in the truck. So I need to leave enough gas in my own tank at the end of every trip to get home safely. Falling asleep at the wheel is not an option. April & May on the water trips are usually 5-6 hours. June & July I'm usually on small water in the canoe and that's far more casual so they can be a little longer. August & September is another time for Plus size fish. First light bites can be epic and if there's wind/cloud cover I'll hang around til noon or so. October can be similar at times with a bite that lasts all day. More important to me than single trip duration, is my ability to be on the same water as many days in a row as I can. Or at the very least every other day for a week of so. Being able to stay on or with the bait & or the fish has proven to be super helpful and often times make or break deal when it come to putting the kind of bass I'm always looking for in the net. 17. Workout Day 2 for this one. Completed 3 working sets of each of the 4 scheduled movements. Compared to my previous effort, I was able to pump up the resistance a bit. Either way, I always strive to have the last rep be as clean as the first. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  18. I like and use plenty of mono but almost always as leader material. However I see no need to be singular in my fishing line needs. So I use a little of everything except braid on casting reels. For me that's like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters. 😎 A-Jay
  19. You know what the 'roads' are like up here. Tree lined FOR MILES. Now it's just an endless view of ugliness. Super sad. It really is. A-Jay
  20. I sure that works too. btw, do you save them up or wait for one to go empty ? A-Jay
  21. I've been using one of these for a while. Super basic, fast and effective. Especially when I have several reels to strip line off. Seems a bit over priced now, especially for what it is. https://charkbait.com/products/line-off-line-remover?srsltid=AfmBOoowIjOKZCxLHSxsaD3xnUKaR_BVQozAAA8P268NtLrO657Kkjxj A-Jay

  23. The advice offered in my first response here regarding not eating spicy food before a trip out onto the open ocean, was not that this would somehow be a cure. Instead, it's because Komodo Dragon Chili rarely tastes/feels as good coming back up as it did going down. A-Jay
  24. Been a mostly hectic and wild spring here. Insanely destructive ice storm dropped thousands of trees on 168 boating access points in the 12 surrounding counties, including the one we live in. The Boat ramps were finally cleared and opened several weeks AFTER pre-spawn bite started. Don't want to sound like a whiner but it Really was giant downer; still is as the clean up here will take most of my time. The few times I did manage to get out, I mined up a couple of the brown bass I always hope to find. My next realistic shot at plus size fish will be in August. Going to be a long summer. A-Jay
