I’m not a carpenter and I have limited tools, but I made a thing.
Not too shabby DB, very nicely done. I don’t think TAP Plastics could have done a better job.

Help finding a rod for a 10 year old
@AmericanMade, I think you’re on the right track regarding getting your son a spinning rod of his own. A 6’6” two piece, medium action Fenwick was my first “serious” rod purchased with my paper route money. That rod (pictured below) provided me years, decade’s really, of fishing memories including landing large trout and 15-25lb Klamath River salmon. I’d suggest going with a 3000 series reel, which would be the same size as a 2500 that @islandbass recommended, but with more line capacity.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
With the first of two back to back frog only tourneys over, I wasn’t overly confident about the bass wanting to eat a topwater offering. Water temps were 73 degrees to start the morning and with little wind things were looking promising. And the green fish only wanted the popper! The bass were either smashing the bait or just pulling it under the surface barely disturbing the surface. After the morning bite subsided, I continued to catch fish the 1-2 1/2lb class throwing a worm or a T-rigged creature bait. * the only bad part of an otherwise great day of fishing was damaging my big motor’s prop on a submerged rock pile.

What’s your favorite rod manufacturer ?
G. Loomis, Shimano, and Daiwa, but I just want to say my PB was fought and landed on a Okuma Reflexions…

Has anyone had experience with Evergreen/Daiwa rod warranty ?
I haven’t had any problems with Daiwa @WaskaCrank12, quite the contrary as my experience has been their customer service is excellent. Last time I needed help, my Zillion was replaced with a Tatula AGS. Here’s Daiwa’s Warranty/Repair Service number 1 (562) 375-6800.

8 days of fishing left...so sad!
Good luck out on the water @Swamp Girl and a successful procedure and speedy recovery! Headed out in a few myself to check on the green fish…

FluxJet - 2025 iCAST Best In Show
As a boat owner, I think the current trajectory of kayak fishing and technology is putting more anglers of various ages and skill levels on the water. I think this is a good example and I believe that’s great for them and for fishing in general. However, I’d be inclined to stay with a motor with a propeller over the jet drive unless fishing debris-free open water. *In my opinion, the storage space savings, insurance, maintenance and fuel costs not to mention taxes (I just got my yearly luxury tax bill) are some things where kayak fishing has an advantage.

Nice mess of rock fish. Is that a ling under your right foot?

Motorized or not
@padlin, to answer your original question the answer is “yes” as others have mentioned above regarding their respective state’s enforcement. However, I think in intent of the restriction is to prohibit two/four stroke fossil fuel burning motors and not electric trolling motors. At least I know that is how the regulation has been applied here.

Lure retrievers
I bought a “Stump Master” telescopic lure retriever awhile back and it paid for itself the first time I had it on my boat. Whenever the coiled wire gets damaged, I just grab an old wire hanger and make a new one.

Happy Birthday WRB
I’ll notify the Fire Department it’s a false alarm due to the number of candles and cake frosting getting singed. Happy Birthday Tom, hope you had an enjoyable day celebrating!

Has a forum member here actually convinced you to buy something?
Nah, I’ve got to say not really. I would have posted sooner on this thread but I just finished folding my entire wardrobe of Tackle Warehouse T-shirts.
