That would depend on your point of reference @Bassjam2000, these pictures were my point of reference. Left to right Speed Traps made in the USA, Mexico, and China. I haven’t bought any Traps in awhile so it’s appreciated to know of the subtle change.

The only one that comes to mind as I type this are my Luhr Jensen Speed Traps because they come with them stock, right outta the package. Otherwise, tie directly to the lure or split ring. I do like to use a loop knot for jerk baits as I believe it imparts a little bit more action to the lure without adding and additional weight...

As @OnthePotomac mentioned above, I also used Elmer’s Golden Oak Wood Filler in the inexpensive, easy to use tube.

@JackJr, I understand your concerns, and I agree with you that the chemical treatment of submerged vegetation does effect the fish. In my opinion it also affects bass spawning and spawn by removing cover and depleting the treated area of oxygen. On a positive note, bass are a hardy fish and it might take a little time for both you and the fish to adjust. I did attach a photo of fish I caught after the Hydrilla had been treated. Scales were like tiny potato chips, the reddish skin was blistered, but I’m pretty sure it survived. @5/0, your friend might consider doing what the California State Department of Parks and Recreation has been doing for years in the Delta to kill the tulles. The State uses @Roundup Custom to control the hyacinth and vigorously sprays the tulles, a spray crew referred to it as “collateral damages”. The State is permitted to use the grandfather of Agent Orange for this purpose, not sure a permit would be granted to a private citizen for large scale use.

I’m kinda surprised this thread has been inactive for the entire 2019 season. One more game for two “Bay Area” teams and I’m going with these guys * Congratulations to the Rays. Another disappointing Wild Card exit for the A’s, but that’s baseball. Spring training starts in 5 months....

@RAMBLER this has been a pretty effective technique in late winter/early spring when a little wind chop provides the action for the worm or stick bait.

@TotalNoob, I kinda ran across the same situation. A friend gave me a container than he kept his tuna jigs and it works great providing a stable for my thoroughbreds. I have purchased these, which are double sided, on eBay and Amazon. I preferred this option to the Plano 3700 which I store all my other hard baits in.

Agreed both have their attributes. I went with the Mustang (actually 2 of em) in the upper left corner A-Jays photo. If you’re unconscious, how are you going to get it inflated...

As @813basstard pointed out, we ALL would like a green light on a new boat, but for most of us finances and being prudent rules the day. I’m gonna assume other than this hiccup, your boat hasn’t given you any trouble, the transom is sound and you have a good mechanic/boat shop. $600.00 < $19,000.00= A lot of new rods, new reels, a pile of tackle, and a lot of gas to go fishing. (The shop option and best case scenario) $6000.00< $19,000.00= A few of new combos, a few bags of baits, and a gas to go fishing (new motor option if necessary) $19,000= A you mentioned it’s a new boat, lifetime hull warranty, potential of fewer problems. However, it comes with the loss of savings or boat loan payments. BTW, I wrestle with a similar situation with a 15 year old boat with over 800+ hours. Good luck and good fishing with whatever decision you eventually make.

I did some trout fishing up north just below the Oregon border. Throwing a Panther Martin spinner in the riffles at the head of a big, deep pool. All of a sudden my spinner gets smoked, my rod loads up, and what I realize is a heavy fish flashes towards deep water. I’m able to turn it as it takes drag and then decides to run away from me peeling even more drag from my little 1000 series reel. I was able to stop this run and now the fish makes a mistake by deciding to go UP river flashing past me displaying the beautiful colors of a wild rainbow trout. I then directed the big rainbow into the shallow, rocky area I was standing in and the battle was over. The 3+ pound buck cooperated for a photo op before it joined some old friends on my stringer....
