  1. I have two older Kinetics that I like alot! I checked out Quantum's line up at BPS as well when I was there earlier in the month. The new line up definitely impressed me! It's a shame I don't need another spinning reel! Or do I???????? LOL!
  2. Hey Brian, My best out of Cunningham Falls is is 5lbs 9oz but I've seen a couple bigger! I came across 3 the one spring sitting on beds. I'd say they were some where handy to 7lbs. Unfortunately, the guy I was fishing with (was a definite noob) wouldn't let me work them and ended up spooking them. Sadly, I never made it there last year but I'll definitely be hitting there a couple times this year, that is, unless Big Pool steals all my time! That place has me pumped for this year too! lunkerfever, Have you hit Greenbrier before? It's a decent option too! While I have landed any decent ones out of there, I've seen DNR reports of some real hogs surveyed out of there! My best out of Black Hills is the one in my avatar. She was 22" and my digital scale called it 5lbs 5oz. I wish I had taken a girth measurement on that one cause she "looks" bigger than my PB of 21 1/2" - 5lbs 12oz (the first pic in my signature).
  3. Got out for almost 2 hours this afternoon/evening. I hit the one power plant on the Potomac for some smallie action. Luckily, my timing was on (they were actually pumping water)! LOL! I started out with a Rattlin Rogue jerkbait to see if they were active. On my first 5 casts, I managed a smallie on each cast! I thought that was a decent sign! ;D I slowed things down for a while to see if any bigger ones were hanging out under the small ones with a tube but no takers. Ended up with 18 smallies total (nothing bigger than 12", hence no pics), 14 on the Rogue and 4 on a BPS XPS Static Shad.
  4. I'd like to see my home state's team win BUT the Steelers aren't allowed to get number 6 before Dallas! So come on Cardinals!
  5. 3 words for ya fluke! Warm Water Discharge!!! ;D ;D ;D I may have to bundle up! But I always have access to "soft" water!!! Smallies, largemouth, walleye and panfish!
  6. Check this out! Should tell ya everything you need to know! http://www.quantumfishing.com/prod_pages/SigRods.htm I take it back. That page doesn't say whether its one piece or two piece. I checked on *** and they do not say that its telescopic. Usually, it mentions if a rod is telescopic or not. I would say this one is one peice
  7. There's no stupid question! That's why we're here! To learn from each other! As for the trailers, I rarely use a plastic trailer on my spinnerbaits unless I'm fishing muddy water. I use the trailer (typically a larger grub) to add size to the bait and move a little more water. Now with the trailer hooks, I very rarely fish a spinnerbait without one!!! I put the trailer hook on the spinnerbait (with the hook pointing in the same direction as the main hook) and then cut a small peice of the tubing off and insert that over the point on the main hook. This will allow the trailer hook to swing freely (this is the way I do it). Others perfer to take a peice of tubing and put it over the eye of the trailer hook and then thread it on the main hook for a more stiff presentation. Either way is right, just go with the one you have the most confidence in. Hope this helps!
  8. 11.18lbs on 1/26/08 for the tidal record. 11lbs 2oz on 10/4/83 for the freshwater record.
  9. I have several Accurists and a Profile that have the flippin switch. There has been a time or two that I've forgot to reset the switch for casting. As long as you keep the thumb bar down, no worries. But if you accidentally let up on the thumb bar, the reel will let you know! I have not had any issues with broken gears in my reels. But I'm sure if you'd launch a lure out there and let go of the thumb bar over and over again, you're going to break something! Just be careful and think about what you're doingt and you'll be fine!
  10. I have the big green bag too. It holds most of the stuff I need it too. LOL! I do like the bag alot but (IMO) the zippers are not the best. The majority of them have broken off (keep in mind, my bag is roughly 4 years old). One suggestion I'll add is if you let the weight of the bag get up over 35lbs or so, the shoulder strap will break. My bag is somewhere around 45-50lbs. What I did was cut the plastic peice off that hooks the bag to the strap and sew the strap directly to the bag. I used 30lb SpiderWire Stealth and have never had a problem with it since.
  11. I use the 6" Rebel minnows for muskies mostly. I do pick up an occassional smallie with them as well. The model I use doesn't dive much deeper than 2-3'.
  12. If you caught 2 snapping turtles, maybe you need to fish it a little faster. I've seen turtles move and there is no way they're catching my Red Eye when I'm reeling it. I really like the Red Eye Shad. In my opinion, the Sexy Shad color is not the main reason why this bait has been successful for me. The action of the baits is responsible for the strikes. If you changed the color to any of the popular brand shad colors it would still be successful. I'm not sure I could reel it any faster than I was! I throwing it on a burner over top a shallow grass bed. At that time, I had been getting reaction strikes on RatLTraps doing the same thing. Slow speed definitely was not a factor, just the wrong place at the wrong time I'd say!
  13. Interesting. I only got 15. And where I grew up, I figured I'd known more. Born in '71 so I'm pretty much an 80's kid too. The Drive In though shouldn't really count. There's still a working drive in, in the county I grew up in!
  14. The fluro sounds good to me but the one I really want to try is the new braid! It's supposed to be for cold weather! No, wait........ I just love fishing braid is 20 degree weather!
  15. Those looks are PRICELESS!!!!!
  16. Is that all you need? You need to come up to MD sometime and experience I-270. Cell calls, women putting on make-up, shaving, eating a bowl of cereal (yep, I've seen it), writing on a memo pad on the dashboard and reading the news paper! Then there's the ones that forget they have a sun visor. Never heard the term "sun delay" until I started driving I-270!!!!! Oh yeah, one last one...... Heaven help us if there's A snow flurry. 1 snow flake and you go from 70 to 10 instantly! I feel your pain Bassn Blvd!!!!!!!!
  17. From what the vendor at the fishing expo told me, I held the model rod he threw (later in the year) the lipless cranks on. It was the 7'10" Med HVY action. That rod had a REAL soft tip on it!!!
  18. I didn't get into the Sexy Shad craze until late last year. I had picked up the Red Eye Shad and the series 6 crank. The only thing I had caught on the Red Eye was 2 snapping turtles and wasn't able to put the series 6 to good use (the lake I fished later in the year is stained at best). I have added the chart sexy shad to my arsenal now so I do believe they will work.
  19. I thought the Johnny Morris buying BASS was a rumor. That has been out there for a while now, if my memory serves me right.
  20. I just saw them at the fishing expo I was at over the weekend. I didn't bring one home but checked it out. It was the lightest rod I checked out at the show. The 7'10" model ought to launch those DT's a country mile or two!
  21. Kinda looks like a Norman Middle N to me but I've never seen that color before.
  22. I'm pulling for Arizona. There's only one Cardinal fan here at work. Besides, the Steelers aren't allowed to get 6 before the Cowboys!!!!! ;D
  23. Black Hill regional park (Little Seneca lake) is the furthest south I've fished in MD (I'm originally from PA myself). Black Hill is only 24 miles (east) from Tridelphia so that could be another option for you as well. Hopefully, some others can offer more suggestions. Good luck!
  24. Congrats! flechero gave you some good advise with the emotional support! Be ready for the odd cravings too! Something like a fudge-O and Spicey V8 juice! One other note I'd like to throw out there.... the terrible twos...... yeah, they can start before that! (about 18 months for my daughter) But I definitely wouldn't take her for anything!!!!
  25. With the exception of the Potomac, the lakes that I fish here in MD are electric only. Black Hill regional park (Little Seneca Creek lake) just outside of Germantown, MD is tyically pretty hot that time of year. I've been fishing there since about 97 and the spawn is in full swing about the first week of May. My Potomac outings are in Washington county.
