  1. Nice job! That 7 incher is deadly!
  2. If you were just shore fishing, that's understandable for Turtle. To get them in there right now, you need to slowly (and I mean painfully slow) drag a carolina rig with a worm or something across the deeper parts. They hang in there in the sections that are 11-13', and will still grab a C-rig. Go straight out from the launch, and kind of hook to the right (like to the 2 o clock position), and you will find them when you hit 12 fow. That's how you get the bigger ones in there to bite when it's this cold. Tough to do in the wind, though. At least I'm not the only one still fishing. I get some funny looks this time of year.
  3. I went shore banging for a couple hours, and caught 2 bass about 1 3/4lb, and 2 pickerel. All on a green pumpkin Bitsy Bug jig/baby craw. It was nice in between rain bursts.
  4. Last May, I trailored my boat 1200 miles to be a part of this event, and looking back, I'd do double that to do it again. This is an amazing cause, supported by some amazing folks (like Big O and Strike King), and it's worth it to be a part of it. I know there are a bunch of Bassresource members who love to fish, and love this country's veterans, that are from the Virginia area, so it would be nice to see some of you there next year. It won't cost you anything, but a little gas for your boat and tow vehicle to do it, and you will walk away from this weekend with a real feeling of self worth for what you have done for the people of our military forces. The vets who get to go out and fish a tournament, and have a great day or two of fun fishing, are incredibly great full for your being there, and it's the best feeling in the world. If you have any way possible to make it out to help in this event, please register as a boater, and come out and have the time of your life, and help a veteran have the time of theirs.
  5. Rage Tail Thumper Worm. This thing has crazy swimming action. It has a wide, water moving tail, but can be modified (with the cut tail) to have a tighter tail action. Very versatile bait, and is a fish catching machine. Also comes in a 7" version, which I like even more.
  6. And the super species was born.
  7. On the Bitsy Bug, try the Rage Baby Craw or Chunk. It doesn't matter if there are craws there or not. Step 1: attach Baby Craw to jig Step 2: catch new personal best bass Step 3: post a pic here for all to admire
  8. I've hit a couple logs in my glass boat, and didn't do any hull damage (wasn't going that fast), but my prop got pretty mangled on one.
  9. That's the only way I've done it. You're right, not a lot of real deep lakes around here.
  10. There are some amazing catches in that video!
  11. For me today, I think I was going too slow. I think just a little faster, and I would have got her to just slam it for the heck of it. Ps- The water here today, was gin clear, as well.
  12. I had this same conversation with myself this morning, when the biggest bass I've ever seen, followed my swim jig to the boat. I beat myself up for hours. Most of the time, it's a speed, or color thing.
  13. Some of the best out there.
  14. I just did my top 5, here they are, in no particular order: Break my state's record for LM (10-8) Fish Lake Falcon (with Big O) Catch a 40lb 5 fish bag Put my best fishing buds onto their PB bass Teach my son the wonderful world of bass fishing

I've got an '02 Toyota 4Runner with 80k on it, I'll sell you for $4500. Wife wants something smaller.
  16. Thanks! I'm gonna head out again Saturday, so we'll see how it goes. Oh, and Deak, at least your priorities are in order! Congrats on the new addition to the family!

$5500 isn't a good deal on a '98 Ranger, even if it had 20k on it.
  18. Absolutely!
  19. You're killin' me! The lake looks a little crazy. Nice job!
  20. Wow, what a pig! You never cease to amaze me.
  21. Yup, that's true. I have a friend that caught a citation fish at Briary this year, and we couldn't find the DNR guy again to save our life, so he took a bunch of pictures on a measuring board, and the weight, and then a witness signature did the trick. He got his citation for it.
