  1. I love setting the hook on a spinning reel and hear the drag peal out a little. Just something about that, you dont have to yell to your buddy to get the net, just hear the drag and just know.
  2. Dont worry about the purple, you won't be looking at the rod when you're fishing. Great rods, search and there are good deals out there on Endurances. I've got the 723C 6103S Killer 4" weightless senko/smallmouth rod/finesse presentaitions 755C 775C Great rods, a ton of backbone! I almost feel sorry for the bass when I set the hook on them. Endurance > Max Teal & Rippin-lips seem to be the Powell rod champions on this board, I bring up the rear. Good luck, pull the trigger and pretty soon you will be seeing more bass green, than purple.
  3. Yep, I use the Suffix crankbait line for cranking. It's mono, plus I use a Rapala knot, (loop knot) as well to allow for more slack in the line for the bass the ingest. Good luck!
  4. Yep, I just went back to it after finding some old spools of it. Holds up well, very sensitive, and stupid strong! The line is a lot stronger then it's rating, that's why I run with it.
  5. Caught a chunk 3lber yesterday on a Dinger. At first, I was a little skeptical, but I know a lot of people swear by them. I believe them now!
  6. I jacked that term "Walmart girl," I still cant stop laughing over that from the post about what do you call big bass. What length are these lures? I assume the tails stand up straight in the water? How did you fish them, T-rig, pitching..?
  7. stiko, I would dip those craws in some dye. I have been at the recieving end many times when I dont have any dye and they do. They catch a lot of fish doing that. Good luck and welcome to the forums!! Wdy
  8. Looks like a great bait! Now, how do I misdirect the wife with super ninja move into thinking they were already in my tackle box before I bought them. Also, did I miss the length of these devils? They look like 4" or 4-1/4".
  9. DTack does make a good point there!
  10. I know this is a little off topic, but if you have the money, I would invest in a Hawg handle. I just put a Hawtech handle on my Curado 50e (@ 7 to 1)and makes cranking a DT-10 no problem.
  11. Yeah, I just had a Hawtech Handle put on my 50E, yeah, they are a must on all my reels once I get the money together.
  12. Guilty and accounted for!
  13. Yeah, the Symmetry and Supreme XT are both awesome reels. I sold my Symmetry to a buddy, regret everytime I see him. The supreme is a powerhouse of a reel, that carbon washer drag can lock down very well! I would recommend going lighter. I do have a Sedona 2500, about 8 years old and when I put the Supreme XT on the same rod, replacement reel for the Sedona, I could cast a lot farther! Enjoy the process of buying a reel and doing the research, just dont get too caught up in it. Enjoy your new reel with all the ones mentioned here, you are not going to go wrong, just understand where the reels are different and determine if you can deal with that. Good luck!! Wdy

  15. Impressive! WW2 I'm thinking of a number 1-10 now.........What number is it?
  16. I use 6.3 gear ratio for plastic. It gives me enough slack to catch up and be able to catch up when the bass picks up and starts to swim away. personally, for me using a higher gear ratio pulls in too much line and you can pull a plastic through the optimal strike zone very quickly.
  17. Traveler, I'm about to get married so, I enjoyed those!!!
  18. X 2 Ugh, that hurt just looking at it.
  19. Hey everyone, I wanted to see if anyone has fished Lake Chesdin in VA lately? I was hoping to get a report of how and what to fish. Any information is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Wdy
  20. Thanks guys, I might let it sit out this Saturday's tournament and continue to break it in with small fishing trips. I need something that I can get the length on. DVT Mike, I'll probably send it your way shortly.
  21. Hey everyone, I got a quick question. I have a Rocket that I will be using for pitching and the spool just does not "free spool," as much as I should. It actually is a really great reel, but my Curado Es free spool a lot better. Not sure it is because the Rocket has only been fishing twice, or what. All the brakes are off and tension knob is so loose it is ready to fall off the reel. Any suggestions, or tips is greatly appreciated. Thanks n advance, Wdy
  22. Got this one today on the upper lake near the top of the lake.
  23. I'm not sure if the hyper gear ratio of 9 to 1 is really needed, but it sure is fun!! Got a Revo Rocket a couple of weeks ago and it will be my primary pitching reel with a 7 to 1 Curado 50E as a back up (w/Hawgtech handle). But, I see a good advantage in being able to with a couple turns of the handle, have the bait out of the strike zone and heading to potential another. But, as mentioned above a couple of times, this is just the latest thing. Great discussion as well on this topic. Usually this type of topic can take a turn for the worse, but I liked reading all the different view points. Wdy
  24. Yeah, I dont have a Curado 200I, but my Curado E's can throw that size and type lure a long way! First, welcome to the forums!! Second, try this, take your combo rigged up and go out in your backyard and hold it out parallel with the ground. Release the spool and let the lure fall to the ground. if the lure is falling very fast, stop it with your thumb before it hits the ground and you get a backlash. My guess is with your 30 yard casts you have not backlashed often? This exercise is designed to let the lure hit the ground and preventing the spool from free running. Adjust the side tensioner knob to dial in the fall rate to prevent backlash. Once you get that set, that should be your restrictive say "baseline," setting. you can get more aggressive from there. Meaning, freeing up the spool. I use two hands to cast. I would use my 7'-2" Med Heavy rod so, we are in the same ball park. Also, do you step into the cast? Try that, throw it like you're angry at it and let the reel sing! hope this helps and again welcome to the forums!!
