  1. I'm in the minority on this. I hate mint cookies and mint ice cream. I love most mints but not cookies and ice cream. Now peanut butter patties, shortbreads and lemons those are a different story!
  2. I've owned 4 Pflueger spinning reels for several years and never a problem out of any of them.
  3. pretty much an x2 on both of these. I haven't used the Pflueger Trion but I own several PFL spinning and a Supreme BC and they are excellent reels.
  4. A single shot derringer?? :D :D Nah word has it that it's not crowded down there so a .44 would fit with room to spare! ;D ;D
  5. Welcome to the site Blade FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  6. Thanks guys, good job on successes by several of you. Drmnbig right there with ya. Boett - I hope to work up to that. Right now it is just the treadmill. I go to the track to cool off a little. I'll walk a couple of laps around it then I run one then repeat once before I go home. Amazing how much easier it was than when I started. Trying to take it slow starting out so as not to do any damage. The running no not sprinter material but is already much easier. I already changed some on the diet. When I splurge and eat out I eat salmon. Might not be the healthiest Salmon but better than steak I'd guess. Doing some portion cutting and chef salads here and there. Still need major changes but it is a start. Starting is hard but I think the hardest part is re-starting when your routine gets disrupted. Feels good getting both accomplished though. Thanks again guys. I'll use this thread as a motivator to update progress.
  7. I've been battling some borderline health issues. On my last doctor visit ( a month or so ago ) doc gave me a prescrip for Cholesterol issues. It had a very painful joint side effect so they had me stop that med. I got ticked at myself for getting myself into that position and I decided enough was a enough. I am going to do a combination exercise / diet combo to maybe solve the issue the natural way. I'm shooting for 3 x per week @ 45mins ea on the treadmill. I'm not setting any Olympic records but its a start. I'm surprised at how easy it actually is and how much I kind of like it. Work and kid events have thrown some curve balls but I've managed to keep the discipline to pick up where I left off. The only dangerous aspect so far is turning my head to look at the beautiful women. You tend to wander sideways on the treadmill which can be a little hazardous! So far it has been a little more than a month Wish me luck! FFI AKA - Matt Crum
  8. You probably can't go wrong on about any Shimano you choose. Also the Gander Mtn models beginning with GST... ou can find on E-bay on occasion. I've bought some for $20-$35. The are a very close match to the Pflueger Medalist. They also call that the "Tournament " series
  9. Shoreliner, Second guessing about the trigger almost makes me think they might not be ready but not exactly a scientific theory. That being said my 2 9 yr old daughters can cast a spinning reel just fine. They started a couple of years ago. They even close the bail by hand etc. I'd say go for a non trigger. Buy a Pflueger pres or an Abu Cardinal but don't cut it to cheap or the kids will get frustrated ( I'd skip the Mitchell). If they aren't ready or lose interest at least you have viable reels to sell or use. Also I might be in the minority on this but I would rig them with braid. Use a floro or mono leader if you want but use braid for the main line. For a beginner braid is a godsend as it all but eliminates line jumping off the reel like a slinky. The kids will be less likely to get frustrated. Let us know how they do with whatever you decide. This could be avaluable thread for many others. Just my .02 FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  10. I read this 3 or 4 times and all I could think of was " RW said that???" Then I noticed the smiley face ( ok perception is not one of my strong suits)
  11. I could see 2 completely definitions of "collecting" with regards to reels. For any given item of any kind in general "collecting" to me most roften efers to old or antique items. I'm not that type of "collector" Two weeks ago I wouldn't have thought there was any other kind of collector. Ironically I just a day or 2 ago decided that I am a "collector" of reels but not the old or antique type. I just flat out like fishing reels thus my inability to be able to part with many of them. The inability is partly due to just hating to part with somethig for a pittance when I paid a good price for it. Maybe elaborate on what you meant on collect. FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  12. I don't see why this thread wouldn't work. The mod's have enough to do no need to have them have to design a thread for it. I'd say if you start a thread with a tittle that says something like " this is a review only thread no arguing or opinions aloud please " I bet the mods would police it and delete non review posts. The mods do a good job of listening and I bet if the thread continues appropriately that they would arrange for a special spot or a "sticky' or whatever. As far as all the claims of pumping up xyz brand yes it could happen but come on lets not be so negative. I've seen some excellent reviews by a number of people. Some that come to mind are Raul, Fletch, Cart7 and many others. We are all grownups and need to decide for ourselves what to believe and what it is bogus. Doing a little research of the reviewers posts would probably answer most questionns of reliability. Whomever started the thread go ahead and post a review I'll volunteer to go next after you. just my .02 FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  13. Beetles and Bees thread forthcoming?
  14. I'm not that much of a prevert. This is not exactly an unbiased opinion!
  15. PS I guess I expected you to read my mind but the but the 1410 vs the 1310 is the first part of our adress. We live on an extra long street so I'm betting that one of our neighbors got a knock on their door the day before.
  16. We are sitting down at dinner last night and the doorbell rings. I open the door to find 2 young horndogs ( aka 9 yr old boys ) standing in my doorway asking for one of my 9 year old daughters!!!! I did the inquisitive dad thing and found out that yesterday they had also tried and got 1310 instead of 1410 lol. Keep in mind it was very cold both days so they are persistent horndogs / balsy little fellas to say the least. Keep in mind our former "youngest" is 21yrs old and 6ft tall so it has been a while! I'm getting too old for this. Hey Burley I know you have extras can I borrow a big looking gun? It doesn't need to be operable just VERY BIG looing. FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  17. Muddy I got all excited and went to the web to pick one up and I don't see the half off. Is there anything special that needs to be done or did I just get unlucky and miss the deadline? Thanks, FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  18. Good post Muddy This ought to be made permanent sticky
  19. Member of the month sounds good; maybe it was the "elite" tittle that was the problem. Guys their is no reason not to post the topic yourself you don't need a moderator. Just come up with a list of set questions and post them. Have that member pass the buck so to speak. You can cut "n" paste from the original thread.
  20. There are no right or wrongs here just opinions. As far as special needs I don't know if it had anything to do with anything except it obviously could have an effect on the availble pool of talent just from a numbers point. This could be a pro or con talent wise who knows. My only gripe ( and just my opinion, not meant to be disrespectful to other opinions) is any coach for any reason who presses with a 50 or 60-0 score at half irregardless of the opponent deserves to be fired. Even long before half it becomes a classless act of coaching. In my opinion an educators job is to teach. Sometimes they teach about math and English sometimes they teach about life and conducting yourself with class. The example In this case should have been " doing the right thing ". Obviously a fair number of people agree as the man lost his job over it. I commend the administration for acting promptly this was a lesson in "conducting themselves with class". They taught their kids more in a day than the coach would have in years. Had the coach showed a little he'd still have his job. FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  21. check this link out http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/28796621/ This could be a very oppinionated subject. Let's try to post and despite different opinions lets keep it classy. Having been a former official for 25years there are ways to have taken care of this situation. All you have to do is call some fouls and the problem gets taken care of. A technical here or there for unsportsmanlike conduct and no more coach. Next coach goes and no more game. Any fans cheering a steal with a 60-0 lead "unsportsmanlike". You wouldn't have to go this far before people get the "hint" PLEASE keep it civil or don't bother to post much appreciated FFI - AKA Matt Crum
  22. Me, too... Look out, either hell is freezing over or lightning is about to strike I can see the posse being rounded up as we speak That or RW's nose is suddenly longer!
  23. No first hand experience but from what I've heard & read the problem is paying for her ( & her lawyer ) when she does go away! Same thing I think just worded different
  24. No offense fire but you really shouldn't have a novice check it this way. One wrong click and a program is gone. Bilge when you have your IE browser open just click on "help" then on "about" and the verion is plain to see. For reference many many programs ( of all kinds ) will show you their version this way.
