  1. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida
  2. Looks scary to me, I have visions of it flying off. Might put on the glass inside my topper.
  3. Okeechobee works works well for me, as does watermelon pearl. It’s a watermelon top and a dirty white bottom.

  5. @Joedodge….. I just went to TW and checked out the sling pack. I have a small back pack, two shoulder, never really cared much for it. I had a one shoulder sling pack but lost it…… Please don’t ask, I’m still ill over losing it. The TW pack looks like one I would like. The pull to the front feature looks very user friendly. I don’t think it would be too much. I put one in my cart ( bait monkey strikes again)
  6. Buy a pair of polarized glasses at Walmart for around 20 bucks, they are in the fishing section. You’ll see the difference, then you can expand from there. They might suit you fine, or go and buy expensive pair.
  7. My rod is an old version of a Bass Pro tourney special. It says it’s a m/m fast but feels way softer, almost too soft. @Darth-Baiter, @Jar11591 you two are skipping a lot heavier artillery than I am.
  8. I have been practicing too. @Darth-Baiter & @Jar11591, what action rod are ya using? For me, it’s 7 ft med-med/ fast paired with a spincast Zebco Bullet…. I can not , no way , no how skip a baitcaster. Even a spinning reel is hard for me. Some thing clicked when I tried skipping with a spincast. I am far from mastering the skill, but I’m getting better.
  9. I’ve bought solas props, never had an issue. I’ve also did like @Scott F, bought used from the prop repair shop. I kept, nut, washer and pin in a plastic peanut butter jar too. I know stainless steel props will give ya better performance, but use the aluminum ones. I like it being the weak link to the motor, I’d rather sacrifice a prop than anything other part of the drive line on the motor.
  10. I’m with @Brian11719 Another vote for secret lure, https://shop.secretlures.com/ Bass pro used to have a tube craw…it had a ribbed body, kinda bubbled on the way down. I have 1/2 a bag left of Okeechobee color.

  12. @Mike L covered it here in Florida. Most of the fish I’ve caught here in Fl have been on a Ribbon/ curly tailed worm. The color varies, place, season, or time of day. Creature baits being pitched into the pads covers a lot of catches too.

@TnRiver46, yea I know that now, when I was younger, I thought they were all soup can size. The first owl I saw was screech owl… small and loud.
  14. I like throw one very early in the morning, when it’s the darkest and the light is starting to glow in the horizon. I imagine a bass(me trying to think like a bass here). Anyway, his is in the dark, the surface just getting a hint of light on it. Along comes my sub-surface lure, black in color, contrasting the lightly lit surface. They simply can’t resist breakfast and slam it. That’s the way I imagine it anyway……

Great picture, first time I saw one I realized how big they were.
  16. Ok here’s my 2 cents, probably out worth but 1. We have, what I call a natural cadence when cranking, what feels comfortable when retrieving. I try and match bait speed, gear ratio/ITP to what is my comfort zone when retrieving. If you want you, can over think it, because your ITP changes when you cast. The diameter of the spool changes with less line and is variable when you start filling the spool. You can add another factor to by line diameter. Then like @bulldog1935 stated changing the handle length will add another factor to the equation. So I try not to over think it and fish what’s comfortable for me to the type of bait I’m using.
  17. I have the Plano guide series like @casts_by_fly for the boat. I picked a back pack at a yard sale for bank fishing. I agree with @Joedodge and try and carry as little as I can.

Ditto @geo g and Happy Easter to everyone
  19. I guess it’s all relative, I remember the first I saw a bar code scanner at the grocery store, or an ATM.
  20. Do this first^^^^ if that doesn’t work …..say “ you can’t believe everything you see on TV” exit stage right….
  21. I’m not a fan of braid, but I use x-9 for my pitching & flipping, and frog rig. I’ve never had any problems with it, although I use 50lb.
  22. Oh great…. I’ve never had that happen, never even heard of it happening ether. Now I’ve got something else to think about when I’m trying to net a big one. @Swamp Girl I love reading about your experiences, and value your knowledge as a top notch angler, but you could’ve kept that one to yourself. Haha
  23. My condolences to his wife and family and friends.
  24. Losing a fish, is a feeling hard to describe and understand unless you’ve lost one. And why are we so cruel to ourselves? We replay the scene over and over in our minds, and as @AlabamaSpothunter said they pause for a second, so we can burn that image in our brain, to tease and taught us. Then a split second later, correct if I’m wrong, we look to see if our bait is still on and think “ at least I didn’t lose my lure”
