  1. Bass Pro Shops XPS RealImage HDS Entice Minnow Swimbait They have alewife one I’ve done ok with.
  2. I have a little, under $100.00 Hummingbird, I use it mostly for depth finder, water temp. It doesn’t work well for a fish finder kinda thing. I would like to get gps with mapping, just because I like that kinda thing. If I’m out big bass hunting vs just fishing, I turn all electronics off and use my push pole to get around in the grass or pads, no trolling motor. I’ve got friends that have all the electronics one can have, they are cool, but I can’t justify the cost and the addiction to the screen people get. People would pre-fish for tournaments by my house, now they troller-motor by watching the screen and marking spots, don’t even have poles in their hands.
  3. I put leds on my boat, they last longer and use less power. I didn’t do any bling lights, just nav, small light for tying hooks and one flood up front, for when you gotta light everything up. I do want to put red interior lights, just to see walking around.
  4. Rinse and shop vac, like jig man, is what I did. I opted out on the carpet too, it’s a roll on nonskid coating. I put it on 2 yrs ago and it’s holding up very well. Maintenance is a lot easier, no more hooks getting caught.
  5. Had the same thing happen to my brother in law and I years ago. Cruising along in his boat on the intercostal, got out of the channel, was telling me about “ that used to be all woods, no it’s condos” etc etc. Well hit a sand bar, motor came off, land back in the boat with us. So it can happen, first had experience.

  9. I’ve been wanting to make an alligator alley trip. Talked to a guy the other day had all kinds of pictures of the different fish they caught. Thanks for sharing geo g
  10. Check out tin boats.net or tiny boat nation.net I fished out off a 12/36 with a 9.8hp for a few years, loved it. Get all your safety equipment, extra plugs etc. ( and make it legal) and fish out of it for a season, you’ll know ya want and need by then. A lot of nice and knowledgeable people on the tin boat site, just like here. A ton of diy stuff, I had a lot of fun building mine. Have fun, be safe and send some pic of your boat.
  11. Fishing line use can be a personal preference. I went through the “braid phase “, eventually switched everything back to mono, except two rigs. Couldn’t’ stand the noise For crank baits, I like mono, it’s quiet and has a little stretch to it. Sometimes I have a heck’va hook set.
  12. The preparation the night before, the boat ride to your spot. Floating in silence, after lowering the trolling motor and, everything in place. Watching the horizon start to glow as nature wakes up, while I’m drinking coffee and having an egg & cheese biscuit. The casting, the scanning the next place to cast, lure selection….. It’s all good. This statement says a lot….. This one does too….the mindset changes, the millisecond, you shove off, most would think it would cause anxiety. It’s the total opposite with me. It has a calming effect.

  14. I buy cheap spinner baits from Walmart, you know the ones for a dollar each. I have to tweak most them, some I have to tweak again if I change trailers. I figured it was just the nature of the beast.
  15. Hi we’re almost neighbors, Lake George area.

  18. I drink 3 or 4 regular size coffee cups every morning. I’m an early riser around 4:30 am.
  19. I keep my used soft plastics, so on a black blue bladed jig, I use part of a junebug curly tail worm….. just a little more encouragement in case the vibration hasn’t made up his mind. Although I have caught fish on a bare chatter bait …so go figure. Just keep trying different things until you find what works for you in your area.
  20. I started out with low end gear, $40.00 bait caster, $20.00 spinning reel …. It worked, I caught fish. I still don’t own high end gear, nothing over $200.00 except my Shinano chronarch. I did notice the difference, and I didn’t have them give up on me in the middle of a fishing trip. I never was going for the casting distance record, I just wanted a smooth and quiet reel. I like the consistency of they way the reel acts and with that, I feel I’m more accurate in my casting. Overall I have a more pleasurable fishing trip, and I only have midrange gear.
  21. All my rigs and tackle stay in my shop, I load morning of. I have limited myself to what I’m going to use that day. My boat is small, 15ft mod-v, so storage is limited anyway.
  22. Yard sales are good too.
  23. I used a case for cd’s for years, then I took a Plano 3600 and melted grooves in it. I copied a guy from you tube, a DYI spinner bait / buzz bait box.
  24. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida…… I was born in Jackson Co. Wv. My Grandparents took me trout fishing as a young in there.
