Central Florida Fisherman

Featured Replies

Hey all,

My name is Matt and I am born and raised in Central Florida. Family business was a bait and tackle store in Clermont, FL for over 20 years. Maybe some of you know us. My dad is still working at a bait and tackle shop. I grew up fishing the Clermont chain, Harris chain, and Johns lake regularly. I'm looking to carry on the legacy and do something with fishing in the coming years. I didn't appreciate it as a kid like I do now. I'm currently living in Palm Beach County now for the last 5 years working in the field of environmental science/water quality. I've really gotten into Snook and Tarpon fishing since I've been down here. My parents live on a small lake back home, I'm fortunate to get 3 days off a week so I've been going up and doing a lot of bass fishing on their lake. I've had some great results in the last year or so since I've been dedicating the time to freshwater again. I'm going to start recording some footage and hopefully start a channel for fun with it. Also planning to get a boat, a live scope and enter the tournament scene as soon as I'm able to. I have really enjoyed the articles on this site and the forum the past few months. So, figured I'd join. Thanks for having me I'm hoping to learn anything I can, and hopefully contribute as well ha. Thanks.

Welcome.  I live in Eustis.   Been in your family's tackle shop many times.  Fished lots of bass tournaments on the Clermont Chain back in the day. Grew up in Miami fishing for anything that has scales and swims. ?

Hey, thanks everyone. Hey Captain Phil, I knew I'd find at least a few people who'd been in the store on here ha.  Definitely appreciate you, I wish we could've kept it going. I'm planning to get active on here soon. I'm off work for about a week and a half starting today so hopefully I'll get some good pictures. Thanks everyone, look forward to getting to know some people on here and maybe getting on the water with a few.
