Reel Bearing Brands/Real World Comparison
I’m no expert on this but, for what found, a lot stock bearings are unrated….not that stock bearings are bad, just quantity control is lacking. Abec 5 or 7 SS are a big improvement, ceramics are too loud for me. But I’ve hat changing the bearings gave me a quiet, smoother, consistent cast which improved my accuracy.

Attainable goal for 2023
I try for Double Digit every time I go out, got a 7 and change a few years ago. I’m just going to have fun fishing while trying, and try and fish more. I hope everyone meets their goals, and has blast doing it.

left or right reel handle for spinning reel?
I reel everything left handed, spinning and baitcaster. I can reel right handed, but I absolutely can not cast left handed. Nobody is safe if I cast left handed.

When are you throwing a horny toad?
I fished them last Sunday, in the Lilly pads, and around the cypress trees. I like black and a BPS color bama frog, green back orangish belly. I like to use them in the spring, when the frogs are active and looking for mates, but probably good anytime.

Carpenter bees
Take head lice medication, (Rid) mix it with Vaseline, just enough that it does lose its viscosity and stays kinda thick. Put it in the hole, only a 1/4 of the bottom of the hole. The bees walk through and only goes a little ways a fall dead. If ya cover the whole hole they won’t try and go in ….. they just go somewhere else. Used this when I lived in NC, Florida get too hot in the summer and it melts out. They bees do a lot of damage, but when the woodpeckers find them, they really do the damage.

My Costa Sunglases.
Mine aren’t Costa but mine kept falling off too, I bought a float lanyard, but I don’t hang them around my neck. They are like surgical tubing with cloth on them and they grip my hat now. The lanyard usually catch them if they do fall and they will float a pair light glasses if they go overboard. They are called CHUMS, got them at Walmart, in the fishing section ,reasonably priced too. I put them on both pair of glasses, everyday and my fishing glasses.

When to use different types of finesse baits
Here is what I would do, rig two or more poles with different bait finesse jig, shakey head. If your can’t bring two pole have it ready to retie. Fish the same area with both, then move on, but then you got to ask yourself, “ wonder if I’m using the right color….. do they want junebug or green pumpkin”.

Recatching hooked and lost bass
My Dad I were wade fishing for smallies in NC. Hooked a nice size one, he got broke off. We moved on and on our way back he started fishing the same spot. He caught the fish again with his t-rig hooked in him. It had only been about two hours. I don’t remember what article it was, about Berkeley fishing lab, where they design baits. They stated they caught the same fish within 15 minutes in their test tank.

converting to spinning reels only
I fish 50/50 bait caster and spinning wouldn’t want to give up ether one. My dock rod( as I call it) is a spinning rig, I simply have a hard time skipping a baitcaster.

My Wife Always Laughs

The HYBRID bass.
We get them here on the St Johns, we watch for the birds. They push the bait fish to the top, birds gather, and we run in throw rattle traps or troll.

What year is this Daiwa, we’re they any good?
Are they like this one? Shimano has a section in there web site that dates them. This one is a 1983, works great. I know it looks beat up.
