  1. When I fished for smallies, I loved Zoom finesse, rigged Texas with as small of a bullet weight I could get away with.
  2. Took my Sister’s husband out fishing a while back. He fishes maybe once a year, maybe 18 months. Not only did he catch more fish, but bigger too. And all on a $24.98 Sheakspeare from Walmart, that he gave to a kid fishing at the marina when I dropped him off. Go figure.
  3. I do like @Pogues2300….. figure out where I’m going then take the setups needed. I also have a few multi purpose rigs to save on room in my boat, it’s small.
  4. Happy Birthday
  5. Yep @gimruisis right , had a momma bear and two juvenile cubs getting the seed feeders one year. Took them down for awhile, didn’t take long. Neighbors took their hummingbird feeders down at night and put them back in the morning. I’m too lazy for that…… Anyway, she eventually moved on.
  6. Never heard it said other way ……. thanks @Captain Phil
  7. I’ve got two rigs with braid, one bait caster, which is my pitching and frogging set up. The other one is a spinning set up, it’s my dock and skipping rig….. still can’t skip a bait caster….Well I can for a little while, then it turns ugly. So, no leaders for me, everything else has mono.
  8. I usually wait , reel up the slack, watch the line to tighten up, then set the hook…… or try too. But what do I know, I had about a million blowups one day. Couldn’t set the hook to save my soul. I went home fishless and frustrated…… it was still a good day.
  9. I agree with you @Bazoo. I use Walmart’s brand spinner and buzz baits. Think I’ve got two or more of all their colors. Your right, I don’t mind losing one. Just because they’re cheap, doesn’t mean they won’t work. I haven’t seen the hollow bodied frogs, crank baits here, but I have seen the soft plastics senko style worms they sell. Your catching fish with the Ozark trail crank baits so they work. How the hold up in the long run…….just we’ll just have to wait and see.
  10. I have a friend, for almost 40 years. We don’t always hang out together, but we’ve always been there for each other. Girlfriends, marriage, divorces and death and I was the one banging on the glass on the nursery to have him hold up his son to the window. We went from muscle cars to motorcycles and now boats and fishing, but he’s saltwater, me freshwater. Our circle of other friends have changed, they have come and gone. But we have always stayed in touch, even when I lived in Central America for a while. We get together when we can. We live almost 5 hrs apart now. You are so right @Darth-Baiter cherish your friendships
  11. Those look like honey bees, you must have a hive near by, wether it be domestic or wild. Think they will travel aver a mile. Used to put sand in a pie pan, put just enough water to wet it, no standing water on the surface. Started doing it after I had poured out some water near the drive way. Wasn’t long after that I noticed a collection of butterflies getting water from the wet sand, other insects too. l
  12. I’ve been trying to go night fishing for the last few nights, I’ve never have fished at night for bass. The evening lightning storms have kept me from getting out there. I’m really looking forward to trying it at night.
  13. Berkeley big game, but I recently bought a reel from Bass Pro, they’ll spool it free, with reel purchase. I liked their Excel mono. It’s been bout 6 months and been holding up pretty good…. I do use line conditioner too.
  14. Light colored with dark backs, day time. I have never went bass fishing at night, wanna try it soon.
  15. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida. I too started dabbling with pouring plastic. Right now I just save all my used plastic and I’ve got a couple molds I pour from scraps. Have you visited the gun section in this forum?
  16. I have a BPS one, even in light rain I ve never had it go off. But I don’t store mine in the boat, I keep mine in my shop and, if it does get damp or humid I take it inside the house were heat or A/C to dry it out.
  17. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida
  18. A big yehaaw on your PB….. are ya walking in the clouds? I know I do when, I break my own PB, I had a smile so big my cheeks hurt for days. Congratulations….. consider this a virtual toast.
  19. It’s a toss up between spring and fall. Spring, getting over the winter and a lot activity everywhere. Fall, getting over the hot summer heat.
  20. I’ve said this before,…… I used to have the tournament guys come by the house, pre fishing. They had a few rods out, different style baits rigged, working around the docks and shore line. Ever since forward sonar, they come by heads down, focused on the screens. They don’t even have a rod out on deck, some will have a notebook, most have a cellphone in hand. I assume it’s linked to their nav system to mark points, not sure. I don’t know if ya want to call it “time on the water”
  21. Sorry everyone, but we’re done with it too.
  22. I remember too when we had eel grass, what color and did ya use a trailer?
  23. With all the jig talk, and what @Catt just said, has anybody caught anything on a skirted jig on the St Johns River?
  24. I’ve got a few smaller ones from Bass Pro, the realImage series. The goldfish color with fork tail has worked the best for me. They are not big, but I’ve caught decent fish on them.
