  1. Nice fish……never used one on the river, with current. I’ve use them around structures….docks, standing timber. Most of my bites came on the fall of the bait. Start out weightless and work from there. Any kind of weed guard? @bowhunter63
  2. Don’t know if I’m slowing down physically, but mentally I’m definitely sloooo, oh look there’s a bird……..
  3. I know where you’re coming from @FishnMtlHd. I never caught a LM on a skirted jig, here in Fl. When I lived in Nc, I caught a lot of SM on them. A green pumpkin skirt with a paca craw was killer in the fall. I quit carrying them in the boat.
  4. This forum is a vast wealth of information, you have to take it out on (or to) the water and make it work for you. Then you can bring back what you learned and share that advice with everyone here. Nothing beats “time on the water” in my book. I like to think I learn something every time I go out, even the tough days. If nothing else, I’ve learned “what not to do”
  5. It might not be over……

Hey @you haha sorry couldn’t resist that one. I’m in the Sunshine State as well, welcome.
  7. Good luck and stay safe, and stay hydrated.
  8. I use higher IPT for fishing areas with small strike zones, work the area, then retrieve the lure for recast. That and topwater, my action there is the rod, I use higher IPT to take up the slack. I use mid 6 for crank baits, I feel most people have a natural cadence to cranking a reel, you know a comfort speed. My thought on that was to match my speed to that of the reel and lure. Now I’ve been wrong many times before in my life, but this seems to work for me.
  9. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida.

Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida. This is a great place, I’ve learned so much from here.
  11. makes ya wonder, what made that specific one “The one”. Was the the bill on the crank tweaked a thousandths of and inch in a certain way? Maybe the eyelet where you tie off was turned, maybe no straight. I thought it may have been the paint, but I’ve beat the paint off a jointed Rapala and it still catches , or should I say “caught more”. ( Lost it) Than a brand new one.
  12. Hmmmmmm, ooookaaaay, when the boys in white jackets show up. You just mossy right along with them, you gonna go somewhere “real special “ .
  13. I agree with @roadwarrior the world and weather are changing…….Looking back at the weather when I was a kid, the same places have a totally different weather patterns. Hang in there @TnRiver46 stay safe head to high ground if ya have to.
  14. I’m not fond of drift fishing. Like @Jeff Zurawski said I don’t think fishing a Ned, tube or, any bottom contact ….bounce type fishing would be different.
  15. I‘m probably going to get flamed on this as @Fishingmickey said, and I know they’re not the best…. I get mine at Walmart for a dollar, spinner baits too. You might have to tweak them, you can even take them apart and put beads or whatever on them. They don’t have the clacker on them, but they do catch fish. At $1.00 ea you can buy a few of them in different colors compared to the others. I do find I’ll cast in more places and take more chances than expensive buzz baits or spinner baits. They might just do ya for now until you can get the one you want.
  16. @dolo-dinker I fish a lot of Texas rigged too. I like having different baits on hand. When I did a lot of wade fishing, I’d use ziplocks and make smaller packs to lighten the load. I think what you ordered is good, but you can’t have enough plastics in my book. As far as targeting big bass, I think that’s what we all do. I’ve caught the smallest fish on a 12” jelly worm and some of the bigger fish on a 3” Ned rig……go figure
  17. I’ve always been ask to leave a golf course pond unless it was very late evening or actually night. Well after the last golfer, my buddy lives on a course and have caught some nice bass in the ponds.
  18. I’ve used that jig before but with a tiny paca craw…. It was a smallie catcher for sure.
  19. Yes it is hot…. I pulled my gear I keep in the truck…. I’ve already ruined bait. I think the heat is hard on mono too.
  20. Happy Birthday and thank you for all you’ve shared with us here.
  21. When I lived in Nc, it definitely had factor on bait choice. Here in Fl not so much.
  22. Frogs… BPS has one that sinks so slow, head first, little feet kick. I’ve had a ton of strikes on the pause a sink mode. Senko style…. Little erratic jerks and pauses
  23. I think BFS is here to stay….. it actually has been here. We just called them ultralights back in the day…..I guess they still do, BFS = bait caster Ultralight = spinning rig i actually bought one, was going on a trip, wanted a telescopic bait caster combo (cheap one) it came with a BFS spool. It did allow me to have both rigs in one kinda deal. I hardly use now that I’m home, will just grab my spinning rig if I want to fish ultralight ….. or BFS as it’s called now.
  24. I was wade fishing for smallies once, not catching anything. I ran out of lead bullet weights , I switched to brass. I started catching fish. Not that it works all the time.

Man!… where have I been? Never heard of them, just got back from that site. Ol’Crickety do you work “The Bait Monkey” or get a kick back or something? I got to go…….heading back to Midway.
