  1. With that bait you will just have to try different retrieves to see what works at the time. If I am close to a big heavy clump of grass I will steady retrieve up to its outside edge, then pause for a minute for takers and sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.
  2. Then you have these characters, whose goal is mysterious. I frequent another bass fishing site and one day during a discussion on why anglers like Shimano reels a fellow (new to the site) posts that he had just purchased a Curado reel, used it twice and it "fell apart". When several on the thread asked him politely to explain what he meant by "fell apart" he just vanished from the site never to be heard from again.
  3. As a chemical engineer friend of mine said to me, why would any one want to add kerosene to their gas? It is not JP4 jet fuel, just kerosene. As a chemical engineer he believes the fuel products are huge profits for these companies the benefits of which are highly questionable. Then he jokingly adds "what do I know I only do this for a living".
  4. And if you want to try something interesting someday, put two trick worm sections on your spinnerbait.
  5. My general purpose flouro is 15lb Invizx and does well for a variety of presentations.
  6. Oh yes, there is a difference on many weights posted on the product. Years ago I began dropping new weights on my fancy digital gram/OZ scale and was surprised at the difference in posted weight and actual. Not much in some cases, but a difference. I mark all of my hard baits with a sharpie with weight and depth, so just use the scale data.
  7. Toxic is right. My boat is also stored outdoors with the fuel topped off and as soon as I am comfortable with the air temps for my own comfort, I just uncover it, load my gear drop it in the river, crank it up, let it run for 5 minutes and take off.
  8. I know everyone loves this stuff, but if you read the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) on them the contents are alarming. Stabil for instance is 95% deodorized kerosene and Seafoam is 65% isopropanol, which is the most aggressive alcohol available, so that plus E10 is a whole lot of alcohol. Personally, all I have ever done is keep the boat tank and power equipment tanks filled to the brim to avoid condensation and with E10 I have never had a problem in view of the additives the fuel companies use. Every spring everything cranks right up. A least it has for the last 18 years and the boat is stored outdoors.
  9. I use Zoom trick worms and they are available in any color you want. Zoom likes to say they are the original floating worm.
  10. I am not very original and use the Zako a lot also on my chatter baits. The Caffeine Shad is one of my favorites though rigged weightless on a 4/0 and twitched through the grass beds. Our favorite color is baby bass (the fish and me).
  11. Installed Optronics sealed LED's two years ago. Simple procedure...cut wires from old lights, connect wires to new lights... finished.
  12. Or push the worm up over the hook eye, then a tooth pick through the worm then through the hook eye and break off what you don't need, or a dab of super glue. I don't use anything.
  13. This is all I use because I debarb my hooks and they slip right out with this tool. No single hook barbs for 15 years now. No, I do not lose fish.
  14. I have one eye and my eye surgeon told me to wear amber or brown. I use amber and really like it for an all around color.
  15. I am in to massive grass beds on the Potomac, so the grass bed practice is don't cast a mile since it just adds to the difficulty of getting them out of the beds to the boat. I am often working in the 10-15 yd range and that's it.
  16. Life is all about wants vs needs. If wants exceed needs, needs usually increase,
  17. Way too much grease on your drags perhaps, or the sleeve on which your AR bearing fits is not seated properly on the key washer?
  18. I do not salt fish, but you will find a 3000 is the same as a 2500 , but it has a larger spool.
  19. I only reapply KVD about every fourth trip on the river the day before I fish. This keeps the hydrophobic feature ( water repellant)up to snuff. It does not wash off, but it does wear off.
  20. With braid a looser drag setting and with mono a little tighter drag setting. I don't use braid, except on my frog set up, but have never had trouble with a hook set on the few reels I have mono on. The rest have flouro carbon. It must be my trusty BPS Carbonlites ?
  21. I use KVD and have for the last 10 years, but I did try BPS line conditioner last year and found it to be greasy, which means it is loaded with silicone, which, of course, washes off. KVD is polymers which are hydrophobic and permeates the line. It won't wash off.
  22. I have 14lb Advance on a reel, now if I can just get on the river to try it.
  23. I don't have your boat, but do have a 17' G3 tin and the company told me don't do it.
