  1. Carp are warm water fish so with most lakes being at their peak temps right now, carp are very active and hungry. They'll certainly eat a small lure, I've sight fished several on small jigs.
  2. Crazy. Fish looked a little skinny, might have been sick or dying already? Hard to imagine an eagle could hold onto a lively muskie that size without getting dragged under.
  3. The spool tension needs to be fairly loose. Distance is all dependent on how far you're trying to get it. I'd guess an average pitch for me is in the 5-10 yard range. Bait weight can vary from 1/4oz, possibly less, up to an ounce and maybe a little more.
  4. You're pretty limited since it's only what is available at BPS, but they should have a good selection of the Storm Arashi baits, and the wake bait that they offer is really nice.
  5. I'd go with the MH personally. A regular H/F is going to be pretty stout for treble hooked baits.
  6. I wish I had deep pockets. The penny pincher in me says "Buy once, cry once". I've owned glides that run upwards of 2 bills and the Shine Glide rivals them in performance and the profile matches a big shad so good that it just really seems to attract the big bites, which is kind of the whole point of throwing one.
  7. 20-25 is pocket change in the glide bait game.
  8. The XRap is the only Rapala jerkbait that I've done very well with, specifically the smaller sizes. I keep a couple of them in my bank fishing bag in the smaller sizes to target bass and crappie with.
  9. This, except it will be removed to reduce clutter.
  10. I fished one for awhile, wasn't terrible, wasn't any special either. I prefer my Lightning Rod Shocks for less money.
  11. Tatsu comes in larger spool sizes than a lot of other fluoros. I just use topshots on my reels with Tatsu. 1 spool, 50 yards of line on 4 reels, makes the cost much more manageable and keeps me fishing fresh line. I've fished a lot of different fluoros from Sunline, Seaguar, Gamma, Pline, Sufix, Vicious, Yo-Zuri, Stren, Berkley, Silver Thread, Maxima, and HI-SEAS to name a few. Tatsu ranks right at the top with Shooter and Gamma Edge IMO. Hard to go wrong with one of those lines on your reel.
  12. Looks like Zoom's blackberry color without the purple flake. One of my best colors in dark water and lowlight conditions.
  13. Cavitron and Croc-O-Gator are about the only 2 I ever fish with. The Booyah Counter Strike buzzbait makes a lot of noise and sounds different than most buzzbaits and I have added a couple of those into the boat though. The flat head makes them plan out fast too. My biggest buzzbait bass of the year so far ate one of them.
  14. YUM Christie Craw is the closest thing I've found to the Rage Craw. Pretty durable, come in great colors, affordable, and you can buy them in 30 packs now
  15. Tried to word it as PC as possible. I couldn't live there, certainly wouldn't want to try to do what I do for a living there.
  16. Black bass includes largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass, none of which are native to California. They've been established for decades now, so not really an "invasive" at this point, but things are different in California and they've made bass public enemy number 1 in some waterways it seems.
  17. I never use a leader with braid on casting gear. I fish topwater poppers and walkers with straight braid and rarely tangle, despite the rumor that it will happen all the time if you try to do it. I use a leader often with spinning gear, but more for abrasion resistance and sink rate than for the visibility. I've seen too many bass hammer A-rigs with heavy wire, hooks, snap swivels, looking like a chandelier dragging through the water, to believe that they're that scared of fishing line.
  18. They're kind of similar but pretty different baits in how I fish them. I very rarely fish a fluke but always have a stickworm rigged up.
  19. I pour my own and use either an Eagle Claw or Mustad hook. Both hook and hold great. The correct rod/line combination will help a lot also, but your setup should be fine. I'd say to make sure you're not really setting the hook hard. I seem to land more if I just reel and sweep into them than I do if I pop them.
  20. Bluegill and sunfish will spawn multiple times throughout the year under the right conditions. I've seen several areas of spawning gills and sunfish here lately.
  21. The wife and kids are out of town, and I'm working 12 hours tonight, that means a looonnnnggg time in the house for the puppies. So they got a 2:30AM police escort potty break
