  1. It depends on how I got the backlash. If it happens when I'm casting the bait out then I can usually get it out in a couple of minutes. If the backlash happens when I hit something behind me, I just put the rod away and cut it out when I get home.
  2. Back in the 70's I had an Eagle Claw rod that I used for panfish. It met an untimely end in my dad's tailgate. I always say if I find another rod that feels the way that one did I would buy it. No luck so far.
  3. Thanks Glenn!
  4. I started fishing with the BPS Egg about 3 years ago. I don't know if it's the paint, the buoyancy or the way it swims, but the bass around here tear it up.
  5. Mine had to be a creature bait. My friends were fishing with them and I thought "there is no way a bass is going to bite this thing with all the legs sticking out from it". Boy was I wrong.
  6. I tried fishing ned rig style and hung up way to much. Now I fish them with a 1/0, or 2/0 EWG hook either on a split shot rig or T-rig.
  7. It depends on how the fish are biting. If I get skunked then next trip I fish somewhere new. If I'm catching I keep going back.
  8. If I'm fishing a bank spot, either from a boat or walking and I'm getting sunfish bites, and catching them, I move. I figure if the baitfish are that active there is nothing around that can eat them. In a boat I'll go farther off shore, if I'm walking I go somewhere else.
  9. Happy Easter BR!
  10. That thing is a monster. The 3 and 4 pounders I catch have a fit when they're caught. Kudos to him for being able to land it.
  11. What a beast!
  12. The only jig colors I use are black, black/blue, green pumpkin, and orange/brown. You can either match the trailer to the skirt, or add a trailer that is a shade or two off. Sometimes the bass like the contrast and sometimes they want everything to match.
  13. My dad and I fished together every weekend until he passed away 8 years ago. Now I fish alone except when my buddies and I do a road trip to a reservoir size lake. We try to do that 2 or 3 times a year.
  14. He actually has some pretty good tips, but you can tell real quick when a rant is starting. That's when I close the browser.

So sorry to hear this. Prayers sent.
  16. Bullhead, carp, and drum back the day when we would visit my grandma.
  17. Congratulations! Being sick is no way to celebrate, hurry and get well.
  18. Wunderground, Weather.com, NOAA, and Accuweather. On the water I use Wunderground's radar.
  19. The 5500 has the button, the other two have the thumb release.
  20. Around here you can fish a jig by swimming, hopping, or dragging it. A lot of times it will be the profile of jig that triggers the bite. In one small lake last year I was just hooking the trailer over the jig hook and not getting bites. After I started threading the trailer on the hook the bites started.
  21. I'd go, especially with those weather conditions.
  22. Happy Anniversary, nice catching!
  23. It was jigs for me. The year I learned how to fish them took me all fishing season. I started fishing with them in March, and finally caught a bass in October.
  24. Nice bass, congrats!
  25. I've been keeping logs in Excel for around 20 years now. I record dates, locations, weather, water conditions, fish caught, and baits used.
