  1. Even in the summer I've had better luck with a slow retrieve fishing around cover.
  2. For me the biggest advantage for a soft bag is that you can't spill them if the latch isn't closed.
  3. Welcome back!
  4. I have both tied on and ready, but when I fish water that sees a lot of fishing pressure, I reach for a jig first.
  5. I was going through one of my dad's tackle boxes after he passed away. It was amazing to see some old lures that I hadn't even thought of since I was a kid. I received a lot of offers from his fishing buddies wanting to buy those lures, but I am going to hold on to them.
  6. I'm thinking, and that's gotten me in trouble before, that the big retailers are filling their online orders first when they receive their inventory. Anything left over goes out to the stores.
  7. I looked at both of them a couple of weeks ago. I went with the ct.
  8. I grew up fishing only crankbaits. When I got back into fishing I only used plastics. Now I've learned to use both. I would also just get out on the water and start casting. Now I slow down and look for a pattern. Most of the time I can find one.
  9. When I fish from the bank I usually use 6'6" rods. Anything longer and I have to watch out walking through brush, and when I cast so I don't damage the rod.
  10. For a second there I thought that canoe was going to go straight up.
  11. I have to drive 2 to 3 hours to get to a good smallie spot. The biggest problem I have is not knowing what is floating down those creeks and little rivers. If there is a lot of debris then I fish with a m/f. The rest of the time I fish with ml/f.
  12. Good catching! Those pics are amazing.
  13. If l'm asked I will usually tell someone what bait I'm using and how I'm fishing it. When they just motor over and start making casts into the spot I'm fishing I don't say a word.

Good to hear you got out! How did you get hold of one of my reels?
  15. When I started fishing I would just make casts at the bank. Now I've learned better.
  16. RIP Mr. Yeager.
  17. I'd start with a 3/8 and a 1/8 jig in green pumpkin, black/blue, and black. Practice hoping and dragging them on the bottom so you can get a feel for what the jig is doing and bumping into. You can also swim them through the water column like a spinnerbait, or work them under the surface like a buzzbait.
  18. Are there fry and small baitfish swimming around the bank? Over the years I have noticed that the bass don't move much if their forage is holed up somewhere.
  19. I start off with the trailer matching the skirt. If that doesn’t work I‘ll change the trailer to give the bait a little contrast.
  20. Nice going! That's a beauty!!
  21. I was looking through some old fishing pics and found this one. I was walking around a pond a few years ago and came across this little statue sitting on the bank. It made me feel kind of creepy and I didn't stick around to fish the area. A friend of mine was out there fishing about a week later and said the statue was gone.
