hamma I agree with you river smallies tend to more agressive especially on smaller streams the only time I would say that it is harder is when the streams get too warm and crystal clear You need to stalk them from the down river side and fish them like you would sneak up on trout

People seem to think of the Ohio River as river fishing to me it is more like a series of little lakes with little to no current for most of the fishing season. However if you get on a boat fish the points of the up river side of the islands with crank and jerk baits. Also from a boat almost all of the plants on the river have warm water disharges. These areas always hold batifish and hence the bass will be there as well. I like finding areas of rip rap where rock has been placed along the banks.

Today is a day that makes me proud to be where I am from. My mother was in accident today. Someone rear ended her and started a chain reaction. I was less than a mile away. I got there before the emt's or cops. By the time I was there 10 people were there checking to make sure everyone was ok. I had made a bunch of food for our church homecoming and my mom was crying saying that the food would go bad as it needed put in the fridge. A stranger that did not even go to our church offered to take the food for us. Then the cops came. I was trying to put moms car back together with bailing twine just to get it home and I did not have my knife me. It honestly is the first time that I have not had with me for years. It was just one of those days. Anyway I asked one of the police officers if they had a knife I could use and he just looked at me and threw me his blade. I am sure that is against regulations, but he was a good kid. Needless to say there are still good people out there and I am thankful a bunch post here. sorry for the rant

I remember I was cooking eggs listening to ESPN on the tv when they said that we should turn to a local ABC channel. I finished my eggs and sat down to eat. I switched the TV over and they were talking about a plane hitting the trade center. As I was watching I saw the second plane hit and thought they were showing a replay. It took me a few seconds and then I realized what was going on. My mother at the time was living on long island but often worked in the city. In fact I was at the trade towers only months earlier. That was one day that I will never forget. I remember going to class a few days later and my lab partner's father worked at the Pentagon. His office was destroyed and his secretary was killed. He was late that day because a little old lady hit his car on his way to work. In 20 years I may not remember one thing from college but I will always remember that morning. It is amazing how the world has changed since that day

Come Friday I have to put a good friend in the ground. Her husband is my best friend in the world and I do not know what to do. I have been hunting and fishing with this man for 25 years. I can't tell you how many times she welcomed me with a meal or a beer when I walked through their door. When my dad died they were there every minute for me. The one thing we liked doing was enjoying a nice beverage together, so if you are drinking a beer tonight, raise your glass because the Lord just got a beautiful angel.
