  1. The Strike King Rocket Shads are great for current and deep water . I hate the hook set up though , so made some heavy compact baits for those times .
  2. I do well with a gold/ copper combination in stained water .
  3. Chunk trailer might work out great , I never used it . It will add bulk and weight . I dont "think" your hookup percentage will suffer any .
  4. I remove the skirt and add a swim bait . I cant prove it but the hook up percentage seems to be better with the swim bait . I think it might be because there is more mass to it get sucked in than a skirt that has almost no mass . Plus it adds weight to the bait . I went from a 1/2 ounce to a 3/8 ounce bait because with the swimbait added , the lure was slightly to heavy for the rod I use . Which adds to another benefit, the lure can be retrieved slower .
  5. Spinnerbaits are one of the most snag-less lures going . They come through cover extremely well . There is a good video about them here at Bass Resource. I feel the key to catching bass is how they are cast . Try different weights until you come up with the one that can be cast with the most accuracy . I like a 1/2 ounce on a 7 foot mh action rod . Glenn talks about it at 12:57 of this video .
  6. I have to remove one of my picks , sorry AJ but you have enough admiration and replace him with Potatolake . Because I plan on going to Pomme this year , if things work out .
  7. I ordered this today . Thanks for sharing .
  8. The Bayou Boogies I like better than the Pico Perches . They are heavier and have a better action . The Picos worked best for me in the tops of standing timber .
  9. Not an expert with them but I have caught bass 8 to 10 foot directly under the boat in murkier waters .
  10. The first lipless I used were the Pico Perches . Then the Hot spots came along and they were an improvement . I usually preferred the quieter baits .Now I rely mainly on the Red Eye Shad Silents and Tungsten Two Taps . They shimmy on the fall and have become a premiere deep water lure .
  11. I need a new bag and this one looks pretty decent .
  12. I'm anxiously waiting . I'm a fair weather fisherman . Once the ice melts and we have several successive days of mild weather , I'll hit it . Might get skunked but probably not . Its a good time to catch the biggest bass of the year , shallow on a sunny bank .
  13. Andy Montgomery for a skipping lesson Seth Feider for fun and beers John Cox to show me all the shallow fish that I have been missing Tacu Ito to show me new ways to catch them Roland Martin because he is Roland Martin
  14. Kingfisher for big Mexican bass AJay for big smallies WRB for big California bass Mobasser because we fish so similar Jaderose for a froggin lesson
  15. Yes . This one has a prop on the tail . It tames the action some but when reeled in steady , keeps it just under the surface . I'll twitch it , wake it , jerk it all on the same retrieve . Killer post spawn lure . My largest limit ever was caught with this .
  16. This is made as a top water but its also one heck of a wake bait . I have a half dozen new in box .
  17. It will form after the water warms up and is easily seen by the sonar . I dont know if they form in glacial lakes . I would think so .
  18. I use to visit a bar that was full of old men . I knew the owner since I was a kid . Every time I came in they would start talking fishing and bash bass . I just had to take it . They were having fun .
  19. Points , humps , saddles and channel ledges . Thats pretty much all I look for and they are easily located . I find the depth by looking for a thermocline and dismiss all water deeper and looking at the depth bait fish are relating to . Where I'm from , the lakes are full of shad . They are very fragile and die easily . They search out the depth that they are most comfortable in . Bass often set up for ambush near that depth on the structure mentioned . Schools of shad are usually easy to find with sonar in deep open water . I know that is pretty simplified but thats what I do and am successful at it .
  20. The more tore up the thumb the more better . Bass resource needs a bloody thumbs up emoji .
  21. I dont use as many lure sizes and weights as most other anglers do .Because I dont carry a lot of different action rod and reels , so I have to match the lure size to my combo . I dont have the luxury of matching my rod and reel to the lure like pros and a lot of recreational anglers can .
  22. I dont like red bobber stops either . Not because they dont catch fish but I'm afraid panfish will nibble at it .
  23. I wish I could do that . I forgot a buoy once , went back for it and it was gone .
  24. Looks like steep banks behind you .
  25. Just selected my classic team . Three anglers are the top owned in their brackets . One is the second top then I have one at two percent .
