  1. I'm a long ways from Louisiana . My top lure for early in the year is a crankbait . I simply look for south facing , steep , rocky shores , make parallel cast and retrieve super slow . The old Arbogast Mudbug is my go to bait but a lot of people like Warts and flat sided baits . .
  2. I consider long points and saddles ridges .
  3. A little bit of a side story . There was a neighborhood bully and he was tough , for real , and mean . He was from a rough family . He beat every kid up in the neighborhood except me . We would go fishing together , he liked me .
  4. Yeah, but compared to your's not worth mentioning .
  5. As of right now , I dont have a gold mine bass fishing spot . In my life I have had a lot . Fishing pressure destroys them . I keep the spots secret as long as I can and am always looking for another . I think I'm close to a couple , just havent got them dialed in yet . Bass are relating to a channel on a trolling motor only lake . Its hard to spend a lot of time graphing , zig zagging back and forth with a trolling motor only but my instincts tell me there is a sweet spot there somewhere .
  6. My Dad took me fishing when I was just a toddler . I caught a sunfish and loved it . Dont know why It effected me so much . Dad worked at the Lock and Dam on the Mississippi river and I went to work with him at every opportunity , no matter what shift and fish for 8 hours below the dam . I pedaled a 20 inch bicycle for 8 miles one way , just to fish a ditch for bullheads . Bass lures have always fascinated me , so when I got my drivers license , it was on . I just like fishing , all kinds . Bass is my favorite but I even go after trash fish too .
  7. I took a guy fishing , he has no boat . So we went to one of my best spots and caught some nice bass . Should be safe , he has no boat . Someone else took him and he says "I know a good spot . "
  8. Most of my fishing , the past ten years , has been from a flat bottom jon boat .I mounted an old single color Eagle Fish Mark on a gutted out trolling motor and clamp it to the gunwales. . Its a good unit . Shows perfect fish arches but of course no GPS . Even though I know the lake really well , maybe better than anybody , I rely on marker bouys to mark spots . I'll fish around the buoy and when a fish is caught I know exactly where it came from . Sometimes I'll toss the second buoy . When I'm fishing from my bigger boat , my unit has gps and waypoints but the buoys still get utilized. I have had on multiple occasions , other anglers fish right on my buoys . LOL , the nerve of some people . I would never do something like that .
  9. Rick Clunn stated that its going to be tough to physically fish today . I dont know if he was serious or joking . They fished a lot of hours the past two weeks . I would be exhausted .
  10. No rules against using both .
  11. I didnt know I double posted .
  12. I have been a die hard buoy user for 40 years . I'll drop a buoy on what I think is a good spot but not directly on the fish . The buoy is to just keep me oriented . When covering water on deep flats , with a crank or carolina rig , I always have a buoy at the ready and throw it out whenever I catch a fish .
  13. The fishing is tough , how I like it . Lets see who can figure something out .
  14. I caught one at Reelfoot . I use to catch a lot around here but dont fish the same waters as I use to . They really like the oxbows .
  15. At least all five of my picks are fishing again tomorrow .
  16. I made a change and took both Johnston bros . I think one will finish in the top 10 , so I just picked both to ensure I opted for the right one .
  17. I grew up in a hunting family . So I took it up . Fishing became my main sport and I hunt just occasionally now . Small game rabbits and squirrels . I like to eat them . Most of my friends hunt deer so I'll have someone get me a doe . They want to hunt I want the venison , its a win win .
  18. I catch suspended bass with them . I thought this was a secret technique of mine then heard about it twice in one week . Once here and once on Youtube. When bass are suspended off the side of a ledge , throw a swimbait on a jig head on top the ledge . Raise the rod then keep it still . The lure pendulums back through the suspended fish .

I've been thinking about running a Mylar balloon through a shredder .
  20. Northern Missouri is different than Texas . I dont like to finesse fish but I have caught some big ones in ponds at ice out with Beetle spins and marabou jigs .
  21. Got my picks in for Harris Chain A Co Johnston B Zaldain C Christie D Hackney E Iaconelli
  22. I have a popper that can be fished like a wake bait .
  23. I can fall asleep in seconds .
